I've heard many people on YouTube talk about this but have never thoroughly thought to investigate what exactly slop content is. I still don't know 100%, but from what I've found, it's low-effort, repetitive content, usually with video game clips in the background. Some people also say it's low-effort, repetitive, overstimulating content, or just brain rot. The one video I watched talking about slop called penguinz0 a slop channel, I guess because he posts almost every day. I don't think he wants or tries to post slop, I think he just posts what he wants to, which is what everyone does, but even so, does slop have just one singular meaning, or is it just an umbrella term now to define an entire group of content? Another person I found talking about it was discussing Pyrocynical and his repetitive posting about the Lunchly drama (the person talking about Pyro had previously made several videos talking about the situation as well) whilst having Fall Guys gameplay in the background. Is this slop content? It's so confusing to me nowadays that I don't even know who to believe. Using slop to define repetitive content is baseless, because there could be someone who makes gameplay videos and posts only gameplay videos. Does that make them a slop content creator? Not necessarily, I don't think so, but people who use slop as a way to describe that type of content would probably think so. At the end of the day, having a steady content upload schedule, for example, every 3 days, is a repeating cycle, so is just uploading content in general slop? If it defines as repetitive (and sometimes low-effort) content, then that practically defines as ALL CONTENT. It's such an arbitrary term and it feels like it's just lost its meaning entirely.
