Ruuko (born: August 8) is an independent Japanese VTuber.

Ruuko's first video was uploaded in April of 2019, which was a song cover of シャルル by バルーン. She would upload more song covers, such as one of the OST of Identity V, before making her VTuber debut a year later[1], and then holding a chatting stream. The first game she ever streamed was PIEN, and she has also played VA-11 HA-11-A, Identity V, Helltaker, Among Us, Hollow Knight, Papers, please, Stress Explosion, Celeste, Twisted Wonderland, Project Sekai: Colorful Stage, UnderTale, Project Sekai: Colorful Stage, Jump King and Minecraft.

She would also host streams of herself trying to learn English and Bahasa Indonesian through Duolingo, and has gained enough fluency in the latter to hold English-only streams[2]. She also has streams dedicated to learning how to play the ukelele, and still covers J-POP songs, such as Purple - Glue, Pinky Night - Glue, Mira - Kanaria, KING - Kanaria, Envy Baby - Kanaria and Gira Gira - Ado. On the 27th of July she uploaded her first original song.

With the release of the anime Takt Op Destiny, Ruuko held watchalongs streams dedicated to it, as her character designer was also the same person who illustrated the anime's characters.

Her other content includes making shitposts, ASMR, film reactions, food/cooking streams and reacting to other's streams in between the occasional chatting stream[3][4][5][6] .

She also animates and draws[7].

Collaborations[]

She gained popularity after a Fall Guys collaboration with Ollie of Hololive Indonesia, due to their shared character designer. The collaboration also featured Ringo Kujo. Later, Ringo, VAV and Ruuko would collaborate for another stream[8]. She has also played Among Us with several others[9].

RUUKO has collaborated with Jewel in the Crown to cover シネマ[10].

On January 31, 2022, Ringo Kujo hosted a New Years 2022 stream where she would collaborate with many other VTubers designed by LAM. The stream featured Ollie, Lychee, Natsume, Anzu, Zone eCulture, VAV, RUUKO and the Shishimaru sisters.

On Valentine's Day 2022, Ollie and RUUKO covered 夢にエール!パティシエール together[11]. The song was in Indonesian and Japanese. Later an afterparty chatting stream was held on Ollie's channel which also featured RUUKO[12].

Design[]

Her character designer is LAM[13], who also illustrated Ollie Kureiji, Ringo Kujo, Natsume Kujo, Anzu Kujo, Lychee Kujo, Vox Akuma, Fulgur Ovid, the Shishimaru twins and VAV. He also illustrated the characters for the anime Takt Op Destiny.

Lore[]

RUUKO is a time traveler from the year 2050. An agent affiliated with the ruling party of the future, she went back in time together with Meccha Babumi, an agent of the opposition party, to alter the past in order to save the future.

On April 25, 2020 RUUKO made an appearnce as the ambassador for the Nagoya VTuber exhibition in PARCO[14]. Two months later June 4, 2020, she participated in the VTuber ○ × Participate in the tournament event[15].

RUUKO was also a part of the VTuber Cafe & Talk Event[16].

RUUKO made an appearance on Kizuna AI The Last Live "hello, world 2022" on February 26, 2022[17].

On November 25, she was one of the many VTubers who performed an opening act at Planet Station.[18]

Trivia[]

  • Ruuko owns retro consoles like the Super Famicom and the NES since she enjoys retro games.
  • Ruuko is scared of bears, to the point she won't even call them by their proper term, "kuma" ("kuma" is the Japanese word for bear) and instead calls them "maku".
  • She loves kimonos, and has made many.
