凛として時雨 (Hepburn: Rin Toshite Shigure; English: Ling Tosite Sigure), often known as Sigure, is a Japanese rock trio, founded in 2002 at Saitama Prefecture. The band often features a post-hardcore/progressive style, with fast/rapid tempo changes, fast drum beats, complex melodies, often screaming in lyrics and extremely overdriven/distorted guitars.

The channel is mostly reserved for the band's music videos, but also uploads TK's solo project (TK From Ling Tosite Sigure).

Members[]

The band consists of 3 members:

  • Toru "TK" Kitajima (Kanji: 北 嶋徹; Hepburn: Kitajima Tōru); [1]
  • Miyoko "345" Nakamura (Kanji: 中村 美代子; Hepburn: Nakamura Miyoko)[2]
  • Masatoshi "Pierre" Nakano (Kanji: 中野 正敏; Hepburn: Nakano Masatoshi; also known as "ピエール中野" - "Pierre Nakano" or simply "Pierre"/ [3])

The three members have been active continously, while having their own solo projects:

  • TK with TK from 凛として時雨 in 2011
  • 345 plays bass for both this band and Geek Sleep Sheep in 2015; and later, her own solo prroject "ti-ti.uu" in late 2018
  • "Pierre" being an MC for Hip-hop unit "Tamasuji Koul" under the name "Cool J", a DJ under his own name, and the leader of drum orchestral "Chaotic Vibe Drumming"

History[]

This history section will only include those of the band's, not from any members solo projects [4]

The band was founded in 2002, with TK being the bassist, Miyoko being the lead guitarist/vocalist, and Noda MEN was the drummer; TK and Miyoko switched the roles shortly after.

Their first demo albums, "#1" in 2002, "#2" in late 2002-early 2003, "として" (Hepburn: Toshite; often known as "Tosite") in around 2003 and "#3" in 2004 didn't gained much attentions both in underground world and the music industry.

Early debut years[]

In early 2004, Noda MEN was replaced by Pierre, and in Nov 9th, 2005[5], debuted "#4" from their own records, Nakano Records. The album features full, reworked versions on some of their demo tracks, notably "TK in The UK" and "AcoustiC".

The band released 2 EPs and 2 singles; Feeling Your UFO EP in 2006 and Inspiration is DEAD EP a year later, in 2007, Telecastic Fake Show singles in 2008 which charted on Top 20 Oricon; and moment A rhythm single in December 2008, after signed to major label Sony Music Entertainment Japan (SMEJ) [6]. They appeared in the Countdown music festival in 2007 and continued to tour on a regular basis.[7]

Their 3rd album, Just a Moment, released in May 2009, features "JPop Xfile" single track on Space Shower TV. From Aug 2009 to May 2010, the band performed a nationwide tour, starting with Summer Sonic Festival, "I was Music" tour in Saitama Super Arena venue, and in May 2010, performed their first overseas tour in United Kingdom, starting with London and concluded in Brighton.

National attentions era[]

Their fourth album, still a Sigure virgin? released in Sep 22nd, 2010, with "i was music" being the first track with an MV, and later "illusion is mine". They went on their "Virgin Killer" tour from late October to early December.

In later that year, LTS releases "abnormalize" single, which then became the 1st opening title for the 1st season of sci-fi thriller action anime series "Psycho-Pass". [8]

Their 5th album, "i'mperfect", released in Apr 2013, featuring "abnormalize" as the lead single. In June of that year, they signed to European record label JPU Records, and releases the album all across Europe.

The single "Enigmatic Feeling" was released on November 5, 2014, and was featured as the opening titles for "Psycho-Pass 2", the sequel of "Psycho-Pass".

In Jan 2015, the band releases "Who what who what" (featured as the opening title for "Psycho-Pass The Movie"), and band's compliation album "Best of Tornado". "Best of Tornado" featured 3 different versions, the regular one, which only have a single CD; the Tornado Edition, featuring the CD from regular version and the 2nd DVD contains 11 music videos for the tracks. The third one, Hyper Tornado Edition, includes both of the previous goods, behind the scenes, demo tapes and live perfomances.

Their 3rd EP and last release of the year, "es or s", released in Sep 2nd, 2015, featuring a 7-inch limited edition LP, with the A-side plays "SOSOS", while B-side plays "Mirror Frustration". The EP was also the first to be recorded outside of Studio 4 (it was recorded in Hansaton Studios)[9]

Resurgence era (2017-present)[]

On November 17, 2017, the band's 6th studio album "#5" was announced with a February 14, 2018 release date.

On April 18, 2019, the band released their new song "laser beamer" digitally, for the first ever stage adaptation of "Psycho-Pass: Virtue and Vice", a spin-off stage play of "Psycho-Pass", and on July 9th, releases "Neighbormind / laser beamer", which "Neighbormind" was used as the main theme for the Japanese dub of "Spider-Man: Far from Home".

On Nov 11th, 2020, the band released a remastered version of their debut album "#4 -Retornado-" for its 15th anniversary; with their live performances titled "#4 for Xtreaming".

On January 20, 2021, Perfake Perfect was released for the second stage adaptation Psycho-Pass: Virtue and Vice 2 of the Psycho-Pass anime series.

20th Anniversary[]

On April 8th 2022, Sigure posted a teaser for their 20th anniversary digital release single, 竜巻いて鮮脳 (Tatsumaitesennou) [10], with the release date of May 11th; while also announce their nationwide "DEAD is ALIVE" tour until May 14th.

On Sep 21st, "Marvelous Persona" was chosen as the opening theme for LINE NEWS VISION drama series, Joge Kankei.[11].

On Nov 11th, Sigure announces their work-in-progress 7th studio album, titled "last aurorally", which is planned to release in Apr 12th, 2023. The band will also conduct a promotional tour titled "aurora is mine".[12]

To accommodate the release of "PSYCHO-PASS PROVIDENCE The Movie", the band has released the full version of "abnormalize", "Enigmatic Feeling" and "Who What Who What" (the opening intros of season 1, 2 and the first movie of Psycho-Pass, respectively) worldwide on April 5th, 2023.

TK[]

  • TK plays at least 4 roles, aside from being the lead singer and guitarist, both in the band and in his own solo project: mixing engineer, mastering engineer, keyboardist, lyricist.
  • TK's mascot is a penguin, and his favorite vegetable is a carrot.
  • TK's also a hobbyist photographer, mostly uploaded on his Instagram.
  • TK owns 6 different versions of the signature telecaster guitar, and the Fender Classic Series '69 Telecaster Thinline was used prior to the official foundation of the band (Noda MEN era):
    • The original prototype which was a modded SCHECTER S-PT (codename M/M Vintage).
    • The "Butterscotch" one (also known as the "Telecastic Fake Show" one). Though rarely used, it was in pristine condition, with a more crunchier and hi-gain tone; the last time he uses it was in "TK in The UK" Encore in Perfake Perfect tour at Zepp Nagoya.
    • The beige PROTOTYPE No.2, the first prototype of the now known signature model. He uses it circa 2010-2014, prior to "Unravel".
    • The beige PROTOTYPE No.3 features similar specs to the No.2; it was used from 2014-2016, almost universally refered by the fans as "Unravel".
    • The black PROTOTYPE No.4 was used exclusively in studio and double tracking.
    • The beige PROTOTYPE No.5 is currently been used, starting with #5 in 2018.
  • Except Miyoko (345), TK's solo project and "Chaotic Vibe Drumming" was the only members that have exclusively uploaded on this channel.

Pinanako[]

  • Pinakano's spouse is Seiko Oomori, and they both have a son in 2015.[13]
  • He is the proud certified owner of the 58th Armand Zildjian Vintage Personal Collection Crash Cymbal[14], and the 69th owner of Armand Zildjian's Vintage Personal Collection Ride Cymbal[15]
  • One of his Chaotic Vibes Drumming track, "Animus", features 20 drummers in an orchestral setting[16], with vocals provided by Origa 6-month before her death[16]. The song was included in the limited 2nd CD of "All About Origa 1994 - 2014"[17], her post-humous compliation album.
