Kai, better known online as 2020 VISION or Weird Side, is a YouTube channel known for making fake "future predictions" for 2020. Not many people know that 2020 VISION is actually an Alternate Reality Game (ARG). The channel was created on June 15, 2017 13:06:18 (UTC±00:00)[1]. On April 8, 2021 (according to Social Blade) 2020 Vision unlisted at least half of his original 2020 prediction videos, leaving 36 public videos out of the original 50. On May 22, 2020 Vision made the unlisted videos public, this includes 200+ never before seen predictions.
How they did it[]
2020 Vision would use a script that utilizes a Wikipedia API to find a ton of celebrities with Wikipedia pages, the info on the pages is scraped and checks if the person has died or not. If they did not die, 2020 Vision generates a video on them. Every day until one of the celebrities' deaths, a bot would check Wikipedia if that person has died.[citation needed]
Once the celebrity has died, he would then cut the entire video so it would just be the date of the celebrity's death. This was proven by 2020 Vision himself here and in his face reveal video.
Video style[]
2020 VISION's videos were simply a blinking eye and the date of when the celebrity in the title died. His other videos however (unlisted) don't feature celebrities but still feature the blinking eye.[citation needed]
Traction[]
2020 Vision gained traction on February 2021 when a lot of popular YouTubers started making videos about his channel and debunking his "predictions". 2020 VISION reached 100 thousand subscribers on February 23rd, 2021 when they got 23 thousand subscribers in a day. Since then, 2020 Vision has been gaining at least 1,000 subscribers a day, and more than 10,000 views per day. Due to 2020 Vision making all of his finalized predictions public, he gained 5 million views in one day.[citation needed]
History[]
Sometime before 2017, 2020 Vision noticed that unlike other social media platforms, YouTube videos do not say they are edited when edited. He began coming up with an idea to do something nobody has done before (on YouTube). He originally thought of predicting events like earthquakes but settled on celebrity deaths.[citation needed]
In May 2020, 2020 Vision made a Discord server just in case he becomes viral.[citation needed]
On June 15, 2017, 2020 Vision made his YouTube channel. Right after, he posted his very first video, "Eyes open". His first finalized prediction was uploaded the day after, on June 16. Within the span of 2 months, 2020 Vision would go on to upload 5000+ videos, although only 250+ would be finalized for public usage. On August 21, 2017, 2020 Vision would upload the video "Eyes closed" and wait for the celebrities in his videos to die.
On May 11, 2019[2], the IP website 78.141.193.250 would be created, this website would later house most of 2020 Vision's puzzles. On May 14, 2020, 2020 Vision would create the Pink Eye Discord server, although all of the current channels seem to have been made on February 2021.[citation needed]
On January 11, 2021, 2020 Vision would begin to set up his YouTube channel. On February 1, 2021, 2020 Vision would make 50 of his videos public (all of them are predictions for 2020). From there he would gain a tremendous amount of traction that would die down in late March. On April 4, 2021, 2020 Vision would upload a now unlisted video called "TIME".
On May 30, 2021, 2020 Vision would upload a video announcing a face reveal on June 6. On 6 PM, June 6, 2020 Vision revealed himself to be the YouTuber Weird Side. He explains how he never intended 2020 Vision to be popular and that he did this whole thing because he thought it was cool. He was surprised when many, many YouTubers took this whole thing seriously, pointing out how cults don't call themselves cults. He also explained that this whole ARG had an underlying tone of satire and ridiculousness (eg. the disstracks).[citation needed]
Discord server[]
2020 Vision owns a discord server. It is treated as a cult. 2020 Vision gave clues to solve certain puzzles but most of the time, it was up to the server members (the "disciples") to solve them. In order to access the puzzle-solving section (and other sections) of the discord, you must type out “I pledge my eternal allegiance to the PINK EYE". On April 28, the so-called last puzzle was discovered. On May 22 6:08 AM (UTC±00:00), the last puzzle was solved, leading to the discovery of another link on 2020 Vision's website. The link contained all of 2020 Vision's videos, including unfinished ones. The videos were totaled to be around 5500.[citation needed]
"THE MACHINE"[]
2020 Vision used to be on voice chat most of the time, broadcasting a machine live through his camera. The machine had nearly unreadable numbers (the numbers are meant to be inputted in 2020 Vision's FOURIER game[3]), wires and a series of symbols being displayed on the screen in the center, the lights on presumably his room flicker constantly. 2020 Vision started broadcasting the symbols on February 11, 2021.[citation needed]
2020 Vision has used the machine to broadcast clues by taping a paper with the clue right in the middle of the machine. On February 22, 2021, the machine changed it's design. On April 14, a control panel for the machine was discovered. It enabled the person in the control panel to input numbers 1-9, a minus sign, enter and menu, it has a 20 second cooldown. If menu is pressed, a menu shows up on the screen in the center of the machine with options for longitude, latitude and unix time. Inputting 1, 2 or 3 will show longitude, latitude and unix time respectively.[citation needed]
The back and enter keys are used as expected. The longitude and latitude numbers change to either one of two predetermined set. One of them seemingly lead to Hackney Marshes, Hackney, London in the United Kingdom (Hackney Marshes is the location of the photos from 2020VISION's secret Instagram[4]). The other set of coordinates lead to Africa 1.25 million years ago. The next day (April 15), 2020VISION removed control to the machine and replaced the page with this message: "Hey! I told you guys you weren't allowed in the control panel! I've taken it down now. I hope you are happy. >:( KEEP SOLVING PUZZLES!!! SOLVE SOLVE SOLVE!!!" SCRTB quickly got around this by creating the #🎲the-machine channel, which allows people to control the machine with a 15 second cooldown.[citation needed]
Use of the Machine against 2020 Vision[]
On April 16, 2021, SCRTB (Black) came up with a plan to take down 2020 Vision. The plan reveals that 2020 Vision's machine can be used to put all of humanity's knowledge into the first humans that appeared in Africa around 1.25 million years ago.[5] She then instructed Team Black members to write a haiku and input certain coordinates into the machine to hopefully "prevent Pink from ever formulating his evil plan"[5]. SCRTB, on April 17, revealed that the coordinates were 51.529543,-0.133047 and the unix time was 1475662500[6].
Black explains that the coordinates lead to the Double Six Café in Somers Town, London, the unix time converts to Wednesday, October 5, 2016 10:15:00 AM. Black further explains that October 5, 10:15 AM was the moment when 2020 Vision first expressed his plan to wipe out humans and replace them with monkeys[6]. That same day, Team Black managed to input the correct coordinates and unix time. The machine stopped responding and started displaying 2020 Vision's iconic eye symbol. The symbol suddenly started dissolving and the machine went back to normal.
On April 21, the machine was discovered to be sentient and got called "Harold" by SCRTB, people then made him think he was a god and that they were all robots, it also wanted to murder 2020 Vision and SCRTB. SCRTB then wiped the machine of it's personality and told Team Black to tell it as much of humanity as possible to hopefully rebel against 2020 Vision. On April 23, 2020 Vision decided to start the process of turning humanity into monkey, the machine rebelled stating "I'm sorry Father. I'm afraid I can't do that." then shutting down, in response, 2020 Vision briefly left the server. A day after, 2020 Vision still streamed the machine but this time it is turned off for good. After that, 2020 Vision stopped streaming his machine.[citation needed]
Team Black and Team Pink[]
After a schism, the server started to included the ability to vote for Team Pink (2020 Vision) or Team Black (2020 Vision's former partner). The ability to denounce the Pink Eye was also included, it is used to gain the "heretic" role which allows you to gain access to a series of discord channels maintained by "heretics", the people who are against 2020 Vision.[citation needed]
Team Black originally was nearly defeated by Team Pink but started steadily winning. The more votes there were for Team Black, the more strange 2020 Vision's machine became, at 30% Team Black votes, the lights in 2020 Vision's room flickers and his machine's screen darkened. 2020 Vision's camera went dark at 49% Team Black votes. It stayed that way until after Team Black was at 51% votes, wherein 2020 Vision's machine went back to normal (room is not too bright).[citation needed]
On April 2, 2021, 2020 Vision released a now-privated unlisted diss track against Midas (Team Black leader) and Team Black featuring Busty Mama, who is later revealed to be his former lab partner, Black. It features an image of him (with his face pixelated) posing in front of a white[7] 2004[8] Nissan Micra.{
On April 10, 2020, 2020 Vision was banned from his own discord server by SCRTB, better known as Black, his former lab partner (in-story). She took his place and became known as "mother" to counter 2020 Vision being known as "father".[citation needed]
On April 21, 2021, after SCRTB expressed tiredness from the Team Pink/Team Black conflict, a treaty was made to settle the feud. The treaty promised to restore 2020 Vision of all power he once had on the server. The treaty was signed by 2020 Vision on April 23 but his roles were not given back due to him signing his name as "Farter" and not "Father".[citation needed]
On April 29, 2021, 2020 Vision got all of his Discord roles back and released a song for Black, which she had been requesting for quite a while. 2020 Vision apologized for wanting to turn humanity into monkey via the description of that song stating that he's "a new man now!" Shortly after, Team Black and Team Pink were dissolved and replaced with 'Team Human'. 2020 Vision also changed his profile picture back to the iconic orange globe and Black changed her name from SCRTB to Busty Mama, presumably to show that things had gone back to normal.[citation needed]
Dislike for TheTekkitRealm and his fans[]
In TheTekkitRealm's video, TheTekkitRealm claimed that an anonymous source named "Jerry" told him that 2020 Vision will DM disciples (people who typed "I pledge my eternal allegiance to the PINK EYE" in chat) in some "secret code" and when translated, it says to meet up at a specific coordinate and a certain time. 2020 Vision has dismissed these claims by TheTekkitRealm stating "If you are coming from TheTekkitRealm, Jerry was lying. I will not send you coordinates when you pledge, and TheTekkitRealm doesn't actually do research for his videos."[9][10] Currently, TheTekkitRealm has avoided talking about his claims and other criticism against him.[11]
Dislike for Timeworks and his fans[]
2020 Vision has seen his videos and dislikes Timeworks and his fans. This dislike towards him is because of the videos Timeworks uploaded.
Manifesto[]
2020 Vision has released his manifesto through his discord server in Spanish[12] and English. His "cult" promises to be more "progressive" by not having all the traditional hallmarks of typical cults, instead he says "Our motto is “out with the old, in with the new” - goodbye genital mutilation, hello dress-down fridays." His "cult" also believes that doomsday will come soon, but 2020 Vision doesn't want to reveal the date.[13] The manifesto was later deleted for unknown reasons. The manifesto was reuploaded on May 3, 2021 with no changes.[citation needed]
