Nick[1] (born: November 29, 1998 (1998-11-29) [age 26]),[2] better known online as 24 Frames Of Nick, is an American YouTuber and Twitch streamer who's known for reviewing movies and TV shows.[3] He's also known for streaming Minecraft on a popular survival server named SMPLive with other popular streamers and YouTubers like CallMeCarson and Jschlatt.[4]

Content[]

Nick's known for making reviews on movies and TV shows on his YouTube channel. His most popular series on his channel is his “Do You Remember...” series.[5] His videos are largely ironic in style and he's quite outspoken in terms of his opinions.

His first “Do You Remember...” episode blew up immensely and currently has over two million views as of 2024.[6]

Quotes[]

  • "This happened to my buddy Eric; I don’t talk to him anymore"[7] Nick's review of Oldboy (2003) (directed by Park Chan Wook) on Letterboxd
  • "No, no, you don't get to; you don't, you don't get to do that. You don't get to literally defile everything Spongebob grew to be in just one simple movie, and act like it's okay."[8] - Nick's notorious reaction to the Stephen Hillenburg tribute in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run.

Controversy[]

In January 2024, clips from Nick's review of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run from his video "Why there is only one good spongebob movie" went viral on Twitter, specifically a portion where he criticized Nickelodeon's inclusion of a Stephen Hillenburg tribute in the credits since the film was released after his death in 2018. In his review, Nick stated that the film was undeserving of this tribute because he felt the movie had massacred the Spongebob IP and thought it was disrespectful to Stephen Hillenburg's legacy.

Initial criticism stemmed from the fact that his video seemed really ignorant and mean-spirited, like it was created as an excuse to glorify the first Spongebob movie while dunking on its sequels, Sponge Out of Water and Sponge on the Run. The way he denounced the tribute was the most criticized part of the video, since it was seen as extremely disrespectful, not only to Stephen Hillenburg but also to the cast and crew, many of whom personally knew him and had had been involved with previous Spongebob projects. In response, Nick deleted the video and announced he was taking a break from his channel, although he claimed he had already been planning to do so for mental health reasons and that the timing of the drama was just an unfortunate coincidence. [9]

In July, people started making jokes about Nick's tribute moment again due to Nickelodeon rebroadcasting Sponge on the Run on TV. After making a joke about contemplating suicide because of this[10], he responded, saying that he was tired of the drama still happening after all this time and that the negative comments he received had only worsened his mental health issues. He acknowledged that, while he understood his comment was in poor taste, it had been blown way out of proportion.[11]

Trivia[]

  • "Nirvana the Band, the Show" is one of his favorite TV series.[12]
  • He is a fan of Dragon Ball and its creator Akira Toriyama.[13]
