2Tall Animation or simply 2Tall is an American animation production studio that are primarily known for their production of animations that feature or reference professional sports teams and players. The most popular animations from the studio across social media often consist of the professional basketball league, The NBA.
Background[]
The studio was founded by Greg Walter and Ian Mork in Columbus, Ohio, and Seattle, Washington. Since the studio's founding, its members have made animations, and music intended for children and/or mature audiences.[1]
YouTube history[]
The channel was created on January 7, 2013, but their first video "Frog and Töad: NOT ENEMIES!" was posted on May 18, 2013. The animation made by Greg Walter features a frog and a toad in what looks to be in the style of an opening sequence to a TV show. The music was composed by Nathaniel Johnstone. In the video description, it indicates that the video is not to be looked at by "LITTLE KIDS" as it does showcase a few violent scenes. After that video, the 2Tall Animation channel would be inactive until April 9, 2020, when "FOXSports 2Tall Sizzle Reel" and "2Tall SportsReel2019" was created. These animations gave an introduction to sports content on the channel.
NBA playoff elimination animations[]
NBA Playoffs[]
A series of short animations associated with the NBA Playoffs began during the 2023 edition of the yearly post-season event and and came back for 2024. The animation shows animations of the main stars of the teams that make it in the playoffs each doing either a Charlie Brown dance or popular dances such as "The Griddy". The music behind these shorts seems to be a remix of "Linus & Lucy" which the original song was composed by Vince Guaraldi. The usual script is that when team is eliminated from the playoffs, a short will be posted depicting the winning member of a team causing harm to or taking out the losing member of a team in some way such as this one. Sometimes these shorts can feature more than one player of a team.
NBA Finals[]
When two teams are left for the NBA Finals, the short features 4 players of each team. Depending on what game is won by a team, a player from the losing side will be harmed or taken out in some way like this. When all players of an opposing team have been taken out, this signifies that the team with players left are the NBA champions. Other sports content includes NFL, NASCAR, Duke, US Soccer, and sport reels for 2023 and 2024.
Kids content[]
Kids content on the channel come in educational songs such as "The Rock Cycle Rap" and "SYZYGY - Solar Eclipse Educational Song Animation" which the first was made for McGraw Hill Education and the latter was made for a Center of Science and Industry (COSI) musical. These are the only 2 videos that are deemed educational, but more might be in store.
