88rising is an American record label founded in 2015 by Sean Miyashiro.[citation needed] According to their website, Miyashiro describes it as a "hybrid management, record label, video production, and marketing company".[citation needed]

The company has gained popularity as a music platform and record label primarily for Asian American artists such as Joji, Keith Ape, Rich Brian, and Niki. Miyashiro once stated that 88rising is "The Disney of Asian hip-hop". In 2019, 88rising was awarded Label of the Year by Netease, one of the largest music streaming platforms in China.[citation needed]

YouTube channel history[]

88rising uploaded its first video on the channel on July 12, 2016, with a music video of Okasian's song "Underwater Bank" from the album The Last Orcas, featuring Bryan Cha$e and Keith Ape as part of The Cohort.[1] The next day, they would upload a reaction video of Rich Brian's Dat $tick music video, featuring other rappers like Tory Lanez, Jazz Cartier, 21 Savage, MadeinTYO and many others.[2]
