9&10 News is the news broadcast created in 1962 by the merger of the news broadcasts Channel 9 and Channel 10. 9&10 is based in Cadillac and focuses on news local to the northern lower peninsula and upper peninsula alongside national news.
History[]
WWTV, colloquially known as Channel 9 (Originally Channel 13), began broadcasting on New Year's Day 1954. It was Michigan's first news station north of the state's capital Lansing.
In 1958, TV broadcast pioneer and then-owner of the Detroit Tigers baseball team John Fetzer purchased WWTV. This purchase brought an increase to area coverage and viewership. In 1962, WWTV moved from Channel 13 to Channel 9 and Fetzer brought the broadcaster WWUP , which aired on Channel 10. The two broacasters merged into WWTV/WWUP, aka 9&10.
From 1962 to 1998 the station was known as TV 9&10, but they have since been known as 9&10 News.
Segments[]
Alongside regular news, 9&10 also has more entertaining and lighthearted segments such as Cooking with Chef Hermann, a recipe series, A Drink With, an interview with a prominent Northern Michigan individual that is done over a drink, Healthy Living, a health and wellness news segment that covers a recent development in the medical and/or aging field, Try Before You Buy, a segment where they would review as-seen-on-TV products, The One Up XP Show, a gaming and esports news segment that is livestreamed on YouTube, Northern Michigan From Above, where they showcase drone footage, and more.
