The Australian Broadcasting Corporation, also known as ABC Australia, is a government owned and operated business run by the Australian Government that specializes in news, education and documentaries.

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation was founded on July 1, 1932 as the Australian Broadcasting Commission.[1]
The ABC began broadcasting on November 5, 1956, marking the first national public television station in Australia, officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Robert Menzies in Sydney.[2]
The Australian Broadcasting Corporation was renamed as the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on 1 July 1983 under the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Act 1983.[3]

On May 28, 2007,[4] the ABC Australia channel was created, and the first video was uploaded on June 6.[5]
