AFFA is the official YouTube channel for the Azerbaijan national football team and the Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan.
History[]
1920s[]
In December 1926, the Azerbaijan SSR unofficially played their first international match against the Armenian SSR, winning 4–0.[1]
1990s[]
After Azerbaijan declared independence from the Soviet Union on 18 October 1991,[2] the AFFA was formed on 26 March 1992.[3]
On 17 September 1992, Azerbaijan played their first official international match against Georgia, losing 6–3.[4] On 25 May 1993, Azerbaijan would win their first international match against Georgia 1–0.[5]
On 6 September 1995, Azerbaijan would experience their biggest loss to France 10–0 during the UEFA Euro 1996 qualification.[6]
2000s[]
On 28 April 2005, Azerbaijan would win their first away match against Kazakhstan 3–2.[7]
2010s[]
After an 1–0 win against Turkey on 12 October 2010, the national team reached 90th place in FIFA World Rankings, which was Azerbaijan's highest ever position in the country's football history.[8][9]
2020s[]
On 18 August 2014, the AFFA YouTube channel would be created, and the first video would be uploaded on the same day; showcasing Azerbaijan's performance during the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification.[10] The channel's next 4 videos contain: a promo for Baku's candidate for the UEFA Euros 2020[11], a football video,[12], another promo for Baku's candidate for the UEFA Euros 2020[13] and a third promo for Baku's candidate for the UEFA Euros 2020.[14] On 9 September 2019, AFFA uploaded their most popular video, which it gained over 400K+ views.[15]
Despite being one of the 11 countries that hosted the UEFA Euro 2020,[16] Azerbaijan didn't qualify for the main tournament.[17]

Trivia[]
- Tofiq Bahramov, an Azerbaijani football referee, was the linesman for the 1966 FIFA World Cup final between England and West Germany, in which he awarded England's controversial third goal.[18]
