A Tribe Called Quest is a former American[5] music group consisting of Kamaal Ibn John "Q-Tip" Fareed[1] (born: Jonathan William Davis; April 10, 1970 (1970-04-10) [age 55]),[1] Malik "Phife Dawg" Taylor[2] (November 20, 1970 - March 22, 2016 [aged 45]),[6][2] Ali Shaheed Muhammad Jones[3] (born: August 11, 1970 (1970-08-11) [age 54])[7] and Jarobi White[4] (born: July 1, 1971 (1971-07-01) [age 53])[8] known for their alternative hip hop music.

History[]

They were founded in St. Albans, Queens, New York City, New York, in 1985.[5]

In 1991, White left to become a chef.[9]

In 1998, they disbanded.[5]

In 2006, they reunited, with White.[5]

In 2016, Taylor died,[2] and as a result, they disbanded again.[5]

Channel[]

They created their VEVO channel on October 15, 2009.

Ten days later, they uploaded their first video, titled "A Tribe Called Quest - I Left My Wallet In El Segundo (Official Video)."[10]

On May 10, 2018, they created their current channel.

On November 17, 2023, they uploaded their first short, titled "a tribe called quest - electric relaxation."[11]
