Story isn’t about “what happens” — it’s about how what happens affects and transforms the characters. I believe that there is an exact science (a recipe, if you will) behind a perfect story. And if you know what ingredients you need, you can create your own perfect story with ease and confidence

―Abbie Emmons

Abbie Emmons is an American[citation needed] YouTuber whose content centers on educating people on how to write books in between vlogs and music covers.[citation needed]

Content[]

Abbie's first video was of her playing a ukulele, where she mashed up two songs into one.

Her next video was an interview with author K.A. Emmons about her book and after that video she began focusing on making videos on how to write fiction and structure books, covering facets of writing such as backstory, exposition, characters and unforgettable villains.[citation needed]

Abbie also touched on meta concepts such as rewriting novels, lack of creativity, overcoming writer's block and writing paces. She chose to self-publish her own book, 100 Days of Summer, and also covered romance tropes such as how to write haters-to-lovers, love triangles and instant love.[citation needed]

Abbie encourages writing with depth and giving inner conflict to both heroes and villains and has encouraged and advised people to write three dimensional characters without glorification. She also believes in "show, don't tell" and that writers cannot shoehorn messages and ideals into their work. [citation needed]

She uses Disney as an example of good writing in her videos and made a video analyzing their films and why they resonate with people from all sorts of demographics.[1] She also has used the show Poldark in her video of writing villains, citing George from it as one of her favorite villains.

She also holds livestreams, titled Write With Me.[citation needed]

Trivia[]

  • On August 4, 2021, Abbie received her Silver Play Button.[2]
