Adventure Time (also known as Adventure Time with Finn and Jake) is an American fantasy animated television series aired on Cartoon Network. It was created by Pendleton Ward and co-produced by Frederator Studios. The series is rated TV-PG.

The series revolves around a boy named Finn Mertens and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake the Dog. Finn and Jake live in the Land of Ooo, where they interact with lots of people.

The series had its first episode, Slumber Party Panic, air on April 5, 2010. The series ran for 10 seasons, and concluded on September 3, 2018 with its final episode being titled Come Along With Me.

History[]

The series' origin can be traced back to a 7 minute short film of the same name that was created by Ward almost entirely by himself. On January 11, 2007, the short film was first broadcast on Nicktoons Network.

The style of the show was influenced by Ward's time attending the California Institute of the Arts, as well as his experiences working as a writer/storyboard artist for The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack (2008-2010).

He has said he strove to combine the series' subversive humor with "beautiful" moments.[1]

Premise[]

Adventure Time follows the adventures of a boy named Finn Mertens, a fiery little kid with strong morals,[1] and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake the Dog, a dog that can shapeshift and change size and shape at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, which was ravaged 1000 years before the series' events by a cataclysmic event known as the "Mushroom War", a nuclear war that destroyed civilization. Finn and Jake interact with a lot of major characters, such as Princess Bubblegum, sovereign of the the Candy Kingdom, the Ice King, a menacing but misunderstood ice wizard, and many more characters.

Ratings[]

Since its debut, it was a ratings success for Cartoon Network. It was reported in March 2013 that the show averaged about 2-3 million viewers per episode. Adventure Time has received universal acclaim from critics, and has received numerous awards.

Channel[]

The channel was created on November 3, 2016. Its first video was an introduction video for the channel.[2] The channel's content usually revolves around full episodes, clips, and episode compilations of the series.

Trivia[]

  • The reason why most of the show's title cards why they look aged and torn is because the title cards are done in the style of old comic book or pulp magazine covers.[3]
