Din Muktar (born: April 23, 1996[1] also known as Agent 00 is a Canadian-American YouTuber who uploads a wide variety of gaming videos. He is known for uploading videos of him playing games that are part of the NBA2K series. He is part of the YouTube collective AMP.
),Personal life[]
Din Muktar was born on April 23, 1996 to Ethiopian immigrant parents in Canada. His family are from the Harari ethnic group.[2] He lived in the city of Toronto in Canada. He has a younger brother who occasionally appears in his YouTube videos, but his name is never revealed. He studied at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada but eventually dropped out. He is also a practicing Muslim.[1]
YouTube Career[]
Agent 00 started watching YouTube back in 2008-2009 at the age of 12/13 and created a channel to upload NFL and NBA clips. He gained his first significant attention when he uploaded a video of Marshawn Lynch's 160-yard run that garnered 80,000 views. This sparked his interest to pursue YouTube as a career.[3]
Editing Gaming Montages[]
He created a channel called West Side Cinema dedicated to Call of Duty editing and gameplay where he would edit montages for other players but eventually felt unrecognized and decided to stop editing.[3]
In 2013, He created the Agent 00 Gaming channel initially to make content about GTA 5 before its launch. Then, he partnered with a channel called GamerSpawn, which allowed him to send in clips for trailers and commentary videos. He was offered a weekly series on GamerSpawn but after doing a few videos for them, he faced overwhelming negativity and was eventually cut off.[3]
Success of NBA 2K Commentaries[]
Despite all this, Agent 00 still decided to keep going by exploring different games such as Last of Us, GTA, Watch Dogs, and eventually settled on NBA 2K. For two years, he started uploading gaming content on "MyGM", a game mode in NBA 2K, which gained traction as there were no other creators focusing on it. After a while, he felt constrained by the game mode and contemplated quitting due to financial struggles and academic pressures while in college. However, his NBA 2K commentaries content started to gain attraction during the release of NBA 2K17. This helped him achieved enough success to drop out of college and pursue YouTube full-time.[3]
Agent 00 also explored live streaming on YouTube first, and then Twitch where he would play video games such as Tekken, For Honor, Rainbow Six Siege and NBA 2K. He tried applying for Twitch Partners and got denied. However, he was offered to stream on Facebook but struggled with the toxicity on Facebook Gaming and eventually stopped streaming in 2019.[3]
Founding AMP[]
In mid-2019, Agent 00 wanted to move to United States and lived with other content creators that he was familiar with. While in the process of looking for homes for their content creator group, he and his cousin, Walid moved in with Low (LegendOfWinning) in Atlanta. In 2020, Agent 00, ImDavisss, Fanum and Duke Dennis founded the AMP group, which later would be joined by Chrisnxtdoor and Kai Cenat.[4] He would also collaborate with Low mainly for reaction content in the Playback channel, and co-hosting a podcast channel together called Peer To Peer Podcast which started in 2020 but ended in 2023.
