Ahmad Zainul Arif, known online as ahmad arif 29, is an Indonesian[1] YouTuber who uploads railway-related content.[2]

Background[]

Arif is Indonesian and created his channel on 11 February 2016.[1]. He uploads his videos titled in English, though some titles on thumbnails are written in Indonesian, and he speaks in all his videos in Indonesian.

Content[]

Ahmad arif 29 mainly uploads vlog-style videos about Indonesian narrow gauge sugar cane railways, though some focus on the state-owned 3 ft 6 in (1067 mm) gauge Indonesian State Railways.[2]

The first video to the channel, uploaded on 11 February 2016 at the same time as his channel's creation[3] (the same day as the channel's creation), titled PG Olean 2011, is a 1 minute 22 second clip[3] of steam and diesel locomotives in operation at the Olean Sugar Mill in East Java, featuring locomotives No. 5 0-8-0T+T named Bromo (Orenstein & Koppel No. 9358 of 1920[4]) running past, No. 1 0-8-0T+T (Orenstein & Koppel No. 5856 of 1912[5]) being loaded with firewood; and later shunting cane wagons, and Diesel 0-4-0DM No. 2 (Kyosan Kogyo of 1965[6]) shunting empties. The video ends with a cab view of No. 1 whistling, as of 5 June 2024, this video has over 6.4K views, 128 likes, and 10 comments[3].

The most popular video on the channel is also the channel trailer, titled THE LOCOMOTIVE OPENS ITS PATH COVERED WITH ASPHALT‼️, uploaded on 16 May 2022[7], it is 16 minutes long with 7.5 million views[7], over 32K likes, and 2,499 comments as of 6 June 2024[7], featuring Semboro Sugar Mill diesel locomotive 0-6-0DH No. 9 (built by Hokuriku Juki Kogyo[6]) making its way along an overgrown line which is being prepared for reopening to coincide with sugar cane traffic and crossing a road with rails which had been mistakenly covered with asphalt, the video is voiced over in Indonesian by Admad Arif themselves.
