Alex Bale, sometimes referred to as AlexBaleFilms or Alexander Bale, is an American YouTuber, filmmaker, and actor known for his films, animations, and surreal videos. Bale is most well known for his two famous series Pizza Time Pizza and SpongeBob Conspiracies.
Content[]
Bale's content comes in a wide variety. He has made horror short films, animations (including animated parodies), the satirical Pizza Time Pizza series, movie reviews, The Promos series, SpongeBob Conspiracies, and TV show conspiracies.
History[]
Bale launched his YouTube channel on June 30, 2014 and uploaded his very first video, "Titanic (with Sock Puppets)," that following December. Over time, he uploaded a wide variety of content including films and animations, and has gained some recognition for such videos, especially the animated parodies. In November 2020, he started his famous SpongeBob SquarePants Conspiracies which replaced all of his current series at that time and he now refuses to do most of his old content.
Promos[]
Bale's first series starting in early 2016 was a show called Promos, created for his high school's news program. Being in charge of creating weekly promos for various school clubs and events, early entries were mostly episodic and comedy-oriented. Slowly, however, a narrative is woven in. By Promo #9, Behind the ID, episodes are more serialized and story-focused. The Promos Series finished in May 2017 after 35 installments and was replaced in October of the same year by Pizza Time Pizza.
Pizza Time Pizza[]
Pizza Time Pizza is a continuation of Bale's Promos series set in the same universe. Where Promos was mostly built on comedy skits, Pizza Time Pizza is more horror-focused. Starting as seemingly just an advertisement for a pizza restaurant, it quickly becomes apparent that there is more going on than meets the eye. Pizza Time Pizza features a wide variety of content, such as music videos, corporate instructional videos, and cinematic trailers. The last few entries in the series however are short films with drama and horror elements.
Throughout the series, Bale hid many secret links and videos, supplying a world of additional information to the Pizza Time Pizza story for the more inquisitive fans and investigators.
Pizza Time Pizza culminated in the tenth and final episode, Pizza Time Pizza X, released October 31, 2019. The video wraps up the long-running story that began 3 years earlier with Dolphinspiracy and Promos.
The Pizza Time Pizza Series was permanently discontinued along with Promos in November of 2020 after the high demand for SpongeBob conspiracy videos.
SpongeBob Conspiracies[]
In November 2020, Bale launched his new series SpongeBob Conspiracies. Initially seeming to be a general media conspiracy series in the same vein as The Game Theorists, the videos gained millions of views and earned Bale over 410,000 subscribers. By the third episode, however, it becomes clear that there's a dark side to the success: Bale is being fed his ideas by a "Muse" monster that lives in his garage (presumed to be real), which forces him to keep up the views the algorithm demands or else he will no longer be noticed or loved. Scenes of this mysterious monster and its influence consistently appear in all of the next installments. The SpongeBob Conspiracies are in high demand on Bale's YouTube channel, accounting for 70% of all his views and subscribers.
It's also noteworthy that this "Muse" is apparently also stopping him from creating other content, as this may explain why Bale's production rate of original films has significantly slowed.
On October 17, 2021, Alex Bale uploaded the sixth SpongeBob Conspiracies video in which he asserts that the seemingly innocent Goofy Goober's Ice Cream Boat is a doctrine death cult that forces its members (the customers of Goofy Goober's) to commit mass suicide.
At the end of the episode, Bale descends the stairs from his well-lit upper floor to talk to the "Muse," who is apparently somewhere on this lower floor. He says into the dark that he doesn't want to be the so-called "SpongeBob Guy" any longer and instead wants to continue his old content. We find out through Bale's dialogue that the Muse had requested that its diet of store-bought meat be upgraded to something fresh, specifically Bale's own cat, Gary. This request in particular seems to be a driving force in Bale's decision to discontinue the SpongeBob conspiracy videos. The Muse, instead of responding in words, turns off the light behind Bale and drops something onto the stairs after he turns around. Bale examines the dropped item and we find out it is Gary's collar, dripping with blood. Upon picking up the collar Bale demands to know what the Muse had done, to which the Muse laughs and says it took what Bale had given it. Bale claims he changed his mind and the Muse responds that Bale had purchased the cat and brought it home; it simply "finished the job." Exclaiming that this isn't what he wanted, Bale tells the Muse that their exchange will no longer continue. A bottle with a note labeled "#7"—which has been shown to be the Muse's method of delivering theories—rolls down the stairs as it tells Bale that they both know the situation is too far gone. Bale hesitantly picks up the bottle, saying this is the last time and afterwards the Muse has to leave. It laughs as the light to the stairs turns on, revealing a glimpse of the Muse's previously-unseen visage: several smooth, pink tentacles that quickly retreat around the corner. The scene ends with a shot of Gary's still dripping collar.
The sixth installment also had a sponsor: a company named "Happy Meat Farms," whose marketing pivots on their practice of free-roaming their livestock and ensuring they have happy lives before their slaughter. Upon going to the related link provided in the description, more information is provided. It seems normal at first, but briefly and at random, the header image featuring cows will show the word "MUSE" painted in red on the side of one.
In addition, a YouTube channel called "this place is not happy" uploaded a video on September 28th, 2021 that was supposedly taken from Happy Meat Farms R&D department files. It showcases a dark side of the company, revealing a truth about the company's animal experimentation. It details a round of advanced genome modifications that was performed on the animals in order to increase meat production, which made the animals grow grotesque and aberrant appropriations of their original forms. One of the subjects has apparently escaped the facility, subject #M0101, a 7 month old male cow that was rendered particularly deformed by the company's "treatment." The video ends with text saying that the round of testing is a success, recommending the beginning of human trials.
A character called Conspiracy Carl, an eclectic conspiracy theorist who seems to have ties to the Muse, is also introduced.
Other Videos[]
Alex Bale also gained success from his GARFHOUSE series, an animated spoof of the classic Garfield strip, and his animated Scooby Doo parody JINKIES. He also has a longer history of making conspiracy theory videos about (children's) pop culture subjects, such as Teletubbies and Blues Clues. Aside from these videos, he used to consistently upload Horror Shorts, which are horror short films directed and created by Alex Bale but were soon ended because of the dominance of SpongeBob Conspiracies.
