New Zealand national rugby union team, commonly known online as the All Blacks, is the national rugby union team of New Zealand. As of August 18, 2023, the All Blacks are currently ranked 2nd in the world.[1]

History[]

The first official New Zealand national rugby team was formed in 1893 to play in New South Wales. The All Blacks nickname was popularized in 1905 when the team, now known as "The Original All Blacks", toured Britain.[2]

The team won the inaugural Rugby World Cup with a comfortable win against France in the final. They would also win the 2011 and 2015 editions.

Content[]

Despite the channel being called All Blacks, it's also the YouTube channel for New Zealand Rugby (the governing body of Rugby in New Zealand) and the Black Ferns (the women's national team).[3]

While it does post highlights of the All Blacks, most of the videos are highlights of various cups in New Zealand (e.g. Farah Palmer Cup and Bunnings NPC). They occasionally post behind-the-scenes videos for the All Blacks and the Black Ferns.

Trivia[]

  • Richie McCaw has appeared for the All Blacks the most, totaling 148 times.
  • Dan Carter is their top scorer with 1598 points.
  • Along with South Africa, both teams share the record of most World Cup titles won, each team having won three times.
    • They are also the only team to have won the Rugby World Cup back to back.
