Amerie Mi Marie Rogers, better known online as Amerie, (born January 12, 1980 (1980-01-12) [age 44])[2] formerly Books Beauty Ameriie[3] is an R&B musician and YouTuber who makes videos about books.[citation needed]

Personal life[]

Amerie was born in Massachusetts,[4] to a Korean mother and an African-American father, and speaks Korean as a first language. She received a bachelor’s degree[5] in English Literature and Fine Arts from Georgetown University.[6]

In 2010, she got engaged to her manager.[7] They got married in 2011.[8] They married in June 2011.[9]

Her son, River, was born on May 15, 2018 (2018-05-15) [age 6]).[10]

Music[]

Amerie professionally debuted in 2002. After releasing her debut LP, All I Have, she took a two-year break, and developed a show about music videos on the BET network. After shooting the last episode, she acted in the film First Daughter.

In 2005, she released the LP Touch, was nominated for two Grammys, received the ASCAP Soundtrack Song of the Year Award, and was named one of People Magazine’s “100 Most Beautiful of the Year.” In August 2005, she became the first Asian-American on the cover of Vibe magazine.[11]

In 2007, she released the album Because I Love It.[12] Thee were significant delays to its release in the United States.[13]

In August 2009, Amerie released her fourth album, In Love & War.[14] The record was initially called “Make Ups to Break Ups.” It "is all about the turbulent times in a relationship. The ups & downs and all of that."[15]

In July 2010, she began spelling her name "Ameriie," with two "i"s.[16]

In 2011, Ameriie released her fifth album, Cymatika Vol. 1. The main genres are Trance and electronic, and the album "experiment[s] with androgyny."[17] Songs originally planned for Cymatika turned into the album Bili,[18] the title of which is s reference to Because I Love It.[19]

In 2013, she announced Because I Love It Vol. II.[20]

In 2016, she released the EP Drive.[21]

In September 2018, Amerie released the double album 4AM Mulholland and After 4AM, which was recorded while she was pregnant.[22]

Amerie edited the book Because You Love To Hate Me, which was released in 2017.[23]
