Andrew David[citation needed] Gold (born: March 21, 1989)[citation needed] is a British[citation needed] TV journalist, author, and YouTuber. Gold has more than 425,000 subscribers across two YouTube channels, Heretics and Andrew Gold. He speaks five languages and holds an NCTJ journalism qualification.[1] He interviews guests about cults, ideologies and polemic cultural issues.[1][2] [2][3] His initial focus on the Andrew Gold channel was on all different cults and ideologies from an agnostic or atheistic perspective. He covered extreme belief in everything from Hasidic Judaism and Scientology to multi-level marketing cults and woo-woo gurus. Although people were receptive to his criticism of Hasidic Judaism, he felt that he was accused of racism when he did the same about extreme Islam or anything related to progressive politics. In November 2023, he launched Heretics to cover the topics he felt unable to touch, and has courted controversy for criticising trans ideology and the Left's affiliation with political Islamism. He also continues to run his eponymous channel, but mainly as a livestream tabloid look at royals and celebrity life, while Heretics has become his hard-hitting channel. [citation needed]
In 2018, Gold produced and presented the BBC documentary Exorcism: The Battle for Young Minds.[4] The film was placed on BBC 3’s Best of 2018 list.[5] Pan Macmillan published his 2024 book The Psychology of Secrets: My Adventures with Murderers, Cults and Influencers.[6][7]
In June 2020 Andrew first launched his podcast, initially known as On the Edge with Andrew Gold and later changed to Heretics. Its guests have included Robbie Williams, Richard Dawkins, Amanda Knox and David Baddiel. He has appeared as a guest on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Triggernometry, GB News, Chris Williamson's Modern Wisdom and the Jordan Harbinger Show.[8][9] He has written for a number of publications, including Unherd, BBC and Vice.[10][11][12] He describes himself as an 'atheist Jew'.[13]
When interviewed by journalist Helen Lewis for The Atlantic, Gold criticized YouTube's demonetization policy.[14]
