Richard David James[1] (born: August 18, 1971 (1971-08-18) [age 54]),[1] better known as Aphex Twin, is an Irish-born British[2] musician, composer and DJ. He is known for his idiosyncratic work in electronic styles such as techno, ambient, and jungle.[3][4] Journalists from publications including Mixmag,[5] The New York Times,[6] NME,[7] Fact, Clash,[8] and The Guardian[9] have called James one of the most influential or important artists in contemporary electronic music.

Personal life[]

Richard was born on August 18, 1971 to Welsh parents Lorna and Derek James, in Limerick, Ireland.[10] He had a stillborn older brother who is also named Richard, which he inherited the name from.[11] On the other hand, he has an older sister, Julie, who is a Welsh politician.[12] He was later raised in Cornwall, England.[10]

Channel history[]

He created his YouTube channel on July 30, 2018,[13] and uploaded his first video on August 7, 2018[14] (though there is an earlier video from 2016,[15] which is connected to his VEVO account).
