Zack Hoyt[1] (born: April 20, 1990 (1990-04-20) [age 34]),[2] also known by his online YouTube alias as Asmongold TV, Asmongold, or Asmon, is an American Twitch streamer and YouTuber who uploads a wide variety of highlights, competitions, reactions, and other similar content on his YouTube channel. This channel is owned by Hoyt himself and run by Daily Dose of Asmongold and CatDany, with the main goal of bringing what they consider as the best moments from his Twitch streams. He is currently residing in Austin, Texas, United States, and has no upload schedule.

Twitch channel[]

Hoyt runs a channel on Twitch, the platform that he is mostly known for. He is known for streaming World of Warcraft. However, he has streamed other fantasy-themed games such as Final Fantasy XIV, Dungeons and Dragons, Lost Ark, New World, Dark Souls, Elden Ring.

Hoyt also streams Just Chatting when he is taking a break from gaming and wants to respond to some of his fans in the chat. Chat rules on his Twitch channel including no spamming and no obnoxiousness.

Hoyt has an alternative channel on Twitch called "ZackRawrr", where he mostly streams games like the ones on his main channel. It has been temporarily banned in June 2022.[3]

OTK[]

Hoyt is a co-owner of the gaming organization OTK (One True King), a group of online content creators that previously focused on playing World of Warcraft in a professional manner.

History[]

Hoyt has been playing World of Warcraft since 2006 and the Warcraft series since 1997. He is more of a PvE player but he also PvP on a regular basis. He says that he used to be good at the game, but then became worse as he became older. Nowadays, he just farms achievements and mounts that never drop. In real life, he is unemployed, since he makes enough income to do Twitch and YouTube full-time.

Twitch[]

Hoyt has been streaming World of Warcraft on Twitch since 2014 and gained popularity for it. In 2017, World of Warcraft Classic had an announcement of it being developed, and Hoyt had long speculated and wished for about the game mode's development. Upon the release of World of Warcraft Classic in 2019, Hoyt gained more popularity, and became one of the most prominent World of Warcraft streamers in 2020 with the release of World of Warcraft Shadowlands.

On July 3, 2021, Hoyt played Final Fantasy XIV, and as a result, that game has gained a bit more popularity, and has expanded to playing other fantasy-themed games such as Lost Ark and Elden Ring around their time of release. Such streams, along with reaction and variety streams, have allowed him to diversify his Twitch content in 2022. He continued to play Final Fantasy XIV in June 2022.

YouTube[]

Hoyt launched his original channel, ZackRawrr, on August 29, 2008, and started gaining some popularity from the videos that he uploaded in 2009. However, some time later, he moved to the Asmongold channel and kept the original channel as an alternative. A few years later, Asmongold became the old main channel, with Asmongold TV becoming his new main channel for the time being.

Hoyt launched his most active YouTube channel on December 9, 2019, and then uploaded his first video, titled "Asmongold Is Back & Explains Why He Took A Break", on December 10, 2019.

Controversies[]

HasanAbi & Asmongold Drama[]

HasanAbi criticized Asmongold, calling him a "hypocrite" after the Ava Tyson allegations, stating: "[Asmongold] literally every day watches a loli Vtuber describe all of the latest and greatest in the gamergate world." Hasan questioned how Asmongold could claim, “This loli sh**’s weird and gross” while still consuming content made by a “loli Vtuber” on a “daily basis.” Asmongold responded, “I’ve looked at Rev’s videos before, yeah.”[4][5]

Asmongold further stated that from what he had seen, Rev had never “sexualized the avatar at all in any capacity” and claimed he would consider it “wrong” if it were ever to happen.[4]

“So, it’s not really hypocritical,” Asmongold said, before pointing out that he had never even brought up Ava’s controversy with the loli artist in his original video, as he “didn’t even know who that was.”[4]

Comments about conflict in Palestine[]

On October 14, 2024, Asmongold made some controversial remarks about the ongoing conflicts in Palestine and Lebanon. He said that he "don't give a f*ck" for the people of Palestine whom he described as from "an inferior culture"[6].
