Астана футбол клубы (English: Astana Football Club), is a Kazakhstani professional football club from Nur-Sultan playing in the Kazakhstani Premier League. The most titled Kazakhstani champion. The club is also a 1-time participant from Kazakhstan in the Champions League, and a 4-time participant from Kazakhstan in the Europa League.
History[]
The club was founded under the name Lokomotiv Astana in 2009 as a result of the merger of two clubs from the city of Almaty. From the moment of its establishment, the club has a professional status and plays in the Kazakhstani Premier League, from which it has never been relegated. In 2011, the club changed its name to Astana. The club actually took part in European cups in 2013. According to UEFA regulations, any club that has been in existence for at least three years has the right to participate in European competitions, so Astana has not been able to participate in any UEFA competition until 2013, despite winning the national championship or cup. The club won 6 national championships, 3 national cups and 5 super cups.
