David Lett[2] (born: January 5, 2000 (2000-01-05) [age 24]),[3] better known online as AstralSpiff or simply Spiff for short, is a Canadian YouTuber who uploads a wide variety of gaming videos. After uploading videos of him playing specific games, he has later on specialized in videos that are related to the Five Nights at Freddy's video game franchise.

History[]

Lett launched his YouTube channel on August 18th, 2020. He uploaded his first video, titled "What a strange location! Pt1- Someday you'll return", on September 9th, 2020. Many of his first videos focused no specific games, however usually focused on Little Nightmares 2, Sea of Thieves, and Alien Isolation.[citation needed]

On November 1st, 2021, Lett would upload a video titled "There's ALREADY a cheater in Poppy Playtime Speedrunning!", and although this video would start of with it's usual views, it would begin to pick up traction[4]. Soon after, this would cause him to focus on creating content catered to Poppy Playtime and speedrunning and eventually Five Nights at Freddy's.[citation needed]

On February 12th, 2023, Lett would upload his most popular video, "I beat EVERY FNAF GAME in ONE STREAM without breaks". He would then go on to post another three videos where he attempted to beat his time speedrunning through the Five Nights at Freddy's games.

Controversy[]

Poppy Woppy[]

Although these videos caused Lett to gain fame, this would start beef with a Poppy Playtime speedrunner named Poppy Woppy.

On October 31st, 2021, Poppy Woppy would upload a video called "Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 Any% Speedrun (4:15) WORLD RECORD". This same speedrun would be called out by Lett as it was revealed to have been cheated due to camera inconsistencies and video jump cuts, usually called splicing, as well as showing impossible skipping techniques.

Poppy would respond by uploading another speedrun aptly titled "Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 Any% Speedrun [3:54]", which was yet again a fabricated speedrun. Lett would respond to this second run a few days later.[5]

Trivia[]

  • He has a wife named Paige and an older sister named Meghan, as well as four other siblings.[7][8]
    • He and Paige originally met during a high school stage performance, in the backstage lounge room, in which she was a makeup artist while he had an acting role.
    • On August 27, 2024, Lett announced on his Discord that he would be preparing for the wedding during the second half of September of the same year.
    • On the September 22, 2024, Lett posted a new video with the description stating he and Paige are now married. [9]
    • According to Meghan, David smells like rainbows.[citation needed]
  • He is friends with another YouTuber by the name of MrWigglesworth.[citation needed]
  • When he had initially discovered FNAF, he was afraid of the games.[citation needed]
  • He has a cat named Loaf.[10]
    • If one is to look closely, they may notice that Loaf has no tail. This is due to an operation that was performed on her that required her tail to be amputated.[citation needed]
    • Loaf once played the "Fruit Punch Clown" minigame from Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator (Five Nights at Freddy's 6) on stream.[11]
    • Loaf originally belonged to one of Lett's ex girlfriends. She had asked him to take her in as she could not keep it.[10] Eventually, he had Loaf for so long that he could name her.
    • Loaf is named that because she looks like a loaf of bread.[citation needed]
  • There are a handful of inside jokes within the AstralSpiff channel.
    • "Giga Monty" refers to a glitch in Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach in which many copies of Montgomery Gator are able to be spawned by walking over a trigger that spawns him during the Showtime event. These copies of Monty will only have the base AI package, making them significantly more dangerous, never losing aggro, hence the name Giga Monty.[12]
    • "Fruit punch for everyone", sometimes known as "Fruit Punch Clown" or simply "fruit punch", refers to the minigame within Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator containing the "Fruit Punch Clown" character.[13]
    • "The Ticking", "The Ticks" "Ticking" and among many other aliases, is the name derived from a certain sound the Staff Bots from Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach make which can often be heard playing on loop in his streams.[14]
      • This most likely became a running gag on the channel due to the annoying attribute the sound can create when played on a loop combined with it's absurdity. [citation needed]
  • He is left handed.[15]
  • David has collaborated with other popular Five Nights at Freddy's-centered YouTubers, such as Lewis Dawkins (Dawko) and John Andrew (FuhNaff).
  • He tried vaping at age 14.
