Raised as a weapon of destruction in a war-torn world, private first class Athena knew nothing but to fight. One day, a surprise ambush left her for dead on the battlefield with her wings blown off. She was saved by a field nurse known as "Nightingale" and spent her time to recovering in the Nightingale house. She then adopted the name and was inspired to become a field nurse herself, hoping to save the lives of innocent beings trapped in violence and conflict. Using inter-dimensional travel, the Nightingales are stationed all over the universe to lend their service. Athena has traveled to many places, but often visits this world after being recruited to help fight against a deadly virus.[citation needed]
