Athletics (commonly abbreviated as A's) is an American MLB team based in West Sacramento, California.[2] They currently play for the west division of the american league.
History[]
In 1901, they were founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, as the Philadelphia Athletics.
In 1910, they won their first World Series title, beating the Chicago Cubs.
In 1955, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri.
In 1968, they moved to Oakland, California, with their first game there being against the Baltimore Orioles.[3]
In 2024, they temporarily moved to West Sacramento, California. Their permanent stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada will open in 2028. The Athletics were the third team to have re-located from Oakland in the span of five years, after the Oakland Raiders (also to Las Vegas) and the Golden State Warriors (to San Francisco).[2]
