Avery West[1] (born: June 16, 2007) [2] is an American YouTuber and Twitch streamer known for his variety, gaming, and IRL livestreams and videos.
Personal life[]
Early life[]
West was born on June 16, 2007 in New York City, New York[3]. West was raised in the Bronx borough by a single mother in an apartment. West attended public school up until middle school, when COVID-19 impacted schools and caused school closures resulting in him attending a homeschool program.[3] West graduated early in 11th grade from his homeschool program in New York City, New York in June of 2024.
West had been interested in computers from a young age[3], initially coding different programs for businesses to make money to support his mother when he was just ten years old. West initially wanted to be a video game developer for a large game studio when he was younger, however, West began posting content on multiple undisclosed and deleted channels starting from age 12.
Prior to starting his serious social media career, West had many attempts at starting a business starting from age 12. He started off working in the Minecraft development field, working on a now defunct Minecraft server called Mineplex as an administrator, as well as his own Minecraft server.[3] He also started his own social media agency which helped manage other social media influencers grow on their respective platforms.
Career[]
Early career[]
Avery West first launched his YouTube channel on November 18, 2023, but did not publish his first video until January 2025 (which was about Fortnite). He began streaming on Twitch in August 2022[4], broadcasting gaming and reaction content.
West received a permanent ban on the Twitch platform in October 2022 for reasons that were not explained, which resulted in him not being able to stream any longer on the platform. He attempted to appeal the ban to Twitch, to no avail. West thought that his career on Twitch was over, so he switched to making long-form videos on the YouTube platform.
Eventually, West ended up deleting all of his social media accounts except his Instagram and Twitter due to lack of success on any other platforms that he created content on. West's Instagram and Twitter were inactive for over a year.
In December 2024, West sent his last appeal allowed to Twitch and the appeal was accepted, restoring his account with over 83,000 followers. West created a new YouTube channel and consistently began streaming on the Twitch platform again, with his return stream garnering around 250 viewers[5].
Rise in popularity[]
In January 2025, West began uploading multiple videos to a variety of platforms, including YouTube, which gave him recognition that allowed him to grow until surpassing over 100,000 followers on Twitch in January 2025[6]. West's fanbase began posting some of his clips from his livestreams on TikTok and Instagram Reels, garnering significant attention, resulting in him reaching over 400,000 followers on Twitch and over 300,000 Instagram followers.[7]
Controversy[]
Twitch ban[]
In October 2022, West was permanently banned by Twitch for an unexplained reason; though reasons have speculated around his community as to why the ban was issued. Twitch denied West's appeals for an unban for more than two years, until his final appeal had been granted in December 2024. His account has been restored since.
