avrona (birthday: October 20)[1] is a Polish technology YouTuber, mainly focusing on PC hardware and software. His content mainly focuses on reviews, unboxing, testing, and news, on topics within the tech space. He has been uploading videos to his channel since November 2013.

YouTube Career[]

On August 28, 2013 avrona created his YouTube channel, to act as an additional source of traffic for a blog around a browser game he ran at that time. At an unspecified date within the next year, the blog ceased to be active, with the channel now being avrona's primary focus. Since this change, the channel primarily focused on more general gaming content for several years.

On March 3, 2019, avrona decided to take the channel in a new direction and uploaded his first video within the technology space. The first few videos focused on technology reviews and news videos.

Big Joel Video[]

On May 11th 2019, YouTuber Big Joel published a video depicting the story of avrona, using it as an example of what he termed 'Small YouTube Culture'. This video, which focused on presenting a more balanced view of the situation, stating both the alleged mistakes made by both avrona and those who antagonized him, was met with a great response by his community and beyond. This video, which has since garnered over 440,000 views, resulted in a large, and almost instant, increase in the interest in avrona's channel. The channel gained over 800 subscribers in May alone, taking him to over 1000 in total.

The momentum was further increased by avrona releasing his own video thanking Big Joel for the exposure and expressing gratitude for having someone provide an in-depth and accurate criticism of the other side in the argument as well. However, in later years, such as in his, 'One Year On From Big Joel' video, avrona has stated he has grown much more critical of Big Joel's video, saying it still misinterpreted many of his actions, and stating he was too pre-occupied with the growth it provided him, and too worried of upsetting the creator of the original video, to properly deconstruct and criticize it when it first came out.

The initial growth provided to the channel by the video quickly slowed down, with new uploads on the avrona channel quickly going back to receiving viewership on-par with the days before Big Joel's video. The rest of 2019 saw highly disrupted growth, as many of the new subscribers would rarely engage with the content, with a small portion unsubscribing soon after.

The video itself did cause a larger controversy on YouTube, as other creators began posting their thoughts and counter-arguments on Big Joel's analysis of avrona and the other small YouTubers he interacted with, leading to even larger discontent between the two groups.

2021 Onwards[]

Since early 2021, avrona's channel continued to see slow but steady growth, as he continued to work within the tech space.

In April 2022, while his channel had just 5,800 subscribers, he registered an official limited company around it: Avrona Group.

On March 4 2023, almost 10 years after the start of the channel, the channel reached 10,000 subscribers. It was celebrated with the release of a video which included avrona and others who previously appeared on the channel re-watching and reacting to the oldest video he has made.

In July 2023, he was invited as a special guest and creator to LTX, an expo hosted by the team behind Linus Tech Tips.

Trivia[]

  • The oldest video that's still public on avrona's channel is a Minecraft video, a start of a change in direction for the channel. The video is from 2015 meaning that all the videos from 2013 and 2014 are no longer public.
  • Avrona is often mistaken for a woman due to his hair and face.
  • It took avrona until 2017, or roughly 4 years, to reach 100 subscribers, and until 2019, or roughly 6 years, to reach 1000 subscribers. He reached 10,000 subscribers in 2023.
  • Outside of YouTube, avrona worked briefly in IT.
  • When asked about why he hasn't quit making YouTube videos despite his channel's poor growth, his reasoning is that it would "make no sense to stop now".
