Stella Rose Bennett (born: January 30, 2000), better known by her stage name BENEE and formerly BENE, is a New Zealand singer and songwriter from Auckland, New Zealand. Her channel is where her latest music videos are posted, containing her smash hit Supalonely's music video, surpassing over 290 million views.
Music Career[]
She was born and raised in the suburb of Grey Lynn in Auckland, New Zealand in which she was in a 'very musical family'.
- Bennett's music career began in 2017 with her debut single 'Tough Guy'.
- She then went on to release singles such as 'Soaked, 'Want Me Back' and 'Evil Spider' leading up to her very first EP 'Fire On Marzz' in early 2019.
- Later on, that same year (2019), she would continue releasing new singles such as 'Find An Island' and 'Monsta' leading to her second EP, 'Stella & Steve'. The EP included 2 collaborations, one with Gus Dapperton and another with Jack Berry.
- Then, in July 2020, Stella went on to tease her first new single from her album 'Hey U x'. This song was 'Night Garden'. BENEE then went onto release 'Snail', 'Plain' and 'Happen To Me' in late 2020, leading to the release of her debut album 'Hey U x' at the end of that same year. The album included collaborations with singers such as Grimes, Lily Allen, Mallrat, Bakar and Flo Milli.
- On 4 February 2022, BENEE announced the release of her EP Lychee after releasing 2 singles from the EP to tease it; 'Doesn't Matter' and 'Beach Boy' which she first teased 45 seconds of in her Official Discord Server, owned and managed by george buckley. 'Lychee' was eventually then released on the 4th March 2022.
As of November 2021, Bennett's music videos had been listened to a total of more than half a billion times on YouTube alone. Her awards include Best Solo Artist at the 2019 New Zealand Music Awards in November 2019, and she also won awards for Single of the Year with "Soaked", Best Breakthrough Artist and Best Pop Artist.
Her music has been compared to other music artists like Billie Eilish, and Stella has said that although this is flattering, it 'can get annoying at times'.[1] Stella's music has also featured in a number of TV shows and movies, including Tall Girl 2, The Hating Game, and her song 'Supalonely' even featured in an episode of The Masked Singer Australia.
YouTube Career[]
On April 27, 2020, Stella started a series on her YouTube Channel called 'BENEEfied' where she did certain activities whilst explaining the meanings behind some of her most well known songs. Some of these include 'Baking with BENEE (Episode 1)[2], 'Bedazzling with BENEE (Episode 2)[3], and 'Brand New Technology with BENEE (Episode 4)[4]. This series, however, sadly ended on Episode 5 'Blu ASMR with BENEE (Episode 5)[5]
Stella also has a series dedicated to her world tour that she did in 2022, titled 'World Tour Diaries' where there is a short video of clips from her concerts + before show vlogs etc. The first one was BENEE World Tour Diaries: Melbourne, uploaded on the 4th April 2022.
