Best Buy is an American multinational consumer electronics retailer that was founded on August 22, 1966, by Richard Michael Schulze and James Wheeler. It is headquartered in Richfield, Minnesota.

Pre-Beginnings[]

On March 25, 1941, Richard M. Schulze was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota.[1]

Beginnings[]

On August 22, 1966, Best Buy was founded under Sound of Music in Saint Paul.

In 1983, Sound of Music was renamed Best Buy, and it opened its first superstore.

In 2002, the founder, Richard M. Schulze, was succeeded by Brad Anderson.

In June 2009, Brad Anderson was succeeded by Brian J. Dunn.

YouTube[]

On March 18, 2006, Best Buy created their YouTube channel. On March 20, 2012, Best Buy uploaded their first public video on the channel titled "Best Buy Tornado Madness".

On May 7, 2009, Best Buy's YouTube channel was first archived on the Wayback Machine. At the time, it had 286 subscribers.[2]
