Keith Farrelle Cozart[1] (born: August 15, 1995 (1995-08-15) [age 29]),[citation needed] better known professionally as Chief Keef (or on YouTube as BigGucci Sosa), is an American rapper known for his music.[citation needed]

Life[]

Cozart was born on August 15, 1995, in Chicago, Illinois.[citation needed] He was named after his deceased uncle, Keith Cozart, known as Big Keef.[citation needed] He used his mother's karaoke machine and began to rap, taping his music. He dropped out of his high school at age 15.[citation needed]

Early career[]

Cozart attracted attention from Chicago's South Side community with the mixtape named The Glory Road and Bang. He was placed under house arrest in December 2011, and would upload videos to his YouTube channel during his house arrest. One of his songs, "I Don't Like", became a hit in Chicago, with someone calling it the "perfect Chicago song". The song caught Kanye West's attention, and remixed it with Pusha T, Jadakiss, and Big Sean. In 2012, he was the subject of a bidding war for record labels to sign him.[citation needed]

On his 18th birthday, August 15, 2013, he released the mixtape Bang, Pt. 2 as a way of celebrating his birthday.[citation needed]

  • Cozart is open about having Autism and Dyslexia. He came out about his diagnosis in 2017 on an interview.[2][3]
  • Chief Keef has made a guest appearance in Halo Infinite where he voiced and did motion capture for an NPC named Spartan-Keef.[4][5]

Cozart created his channel on January 7, 2008, and he uploaded his first video on November 8, 2009. He uploads music videos, audio, and lyric videos onto his channel.[citation needed]
