It's the month of the week.... March.

―Bill wurtz

William James "Bill" Wurtz II[1] (born: December 8, 1989 (1989-12-08) [age 34])[2] is an American YouTube musician and animator residing in the state of New York.

Bill is known for the way he presents his videos, with surrealist and retro visual effects, satirical music, and dry humor, which has been highly acclaimed by his viewers. Many describe his content as "psychedelic". He has also been known for his wildly popular video "history of the entire world, i guess".

History[]

billwurtz.com[]

Bill started his music career on his own website as opposed to YouTube. All of his songs and videos are crossposted onto YouTube.

YouTube[]

Bill created his YouTube channel on February 17, 2012, and posted his first video, "die", on September 9th, 2013.

The actual song was posted on his website on March 9th, 2010. From 2013 to early 2016, he uploaded over 350 videos on his channel.

His most popular video is “history of the entire world, i guess”, a successor to his second most popular video, “history of japan”.

He went inactive on March 2019 after uploading a video titled "might quit". He stated that he was working on videos, but took longer to create them since he was in the process of learning new video editing and 3D animation software, including Blender.

On January 18, 2021, Bill returned, uploading the music video for a new original song "here comes the sun". Most notable about this video was the use of 3D graphics - unlike all of his prior videos before, made in an outdated version of Final Cut, this video was primarily made in Blender, with a notable change in style but a consistent theme of the classic look and visuals.

Quotes[]

  • "Hi, You're on a rock, floating in space."
  • "The sun is a deadly lazer."
  • "Bye-bye ocean."
  • "You could make a religion out of this."
  • "You could make a reli- no, don't."
  • "New kingdoms! CHRISTIANIZE ALL THE KINGDOMS!"
  • "Everyone hired samurai. Rich important people hired samurai. Poor people who could not afford to hire samurai did not hire samurai."
  • "They died in a tornado."
  • "Knock knock, it's the United States." (a quote from History of Japan that was later referenced by Technoblade)
  • "And the hidden meaning is that... I... um... I'm the il- devil, illuminati, 666 please vote for me." (a quote from a genius lyrics video where he breaks down his song "Mt Saint Helens is About to Blow Up".
  • "Oh, hi, thanks for checking in. I'm still a piece of garbage!"
  • "How 'bout I do anyway?"
  • "Sometimes I stand in my room, sometimes I... whatever."

Trivia[]

  • His "I don't wanna go to school song" was made because one time outside of his home Bill was having a conversation with a woman who was going to college. When he said that he didn't, she tried to convince Bill that going to school was the best use of his time and that he should return. That's why he ends the song with "That girl made me feel blue 'cause she told me I should stay in school".
  • He uses Final Cut Express 4, a program that was discontinued as far back as in 2011. In 2019, he switched to the more modern software Final Cut Pro X.
    • He uses Blender for 3D animations.
  • At the end of "history of the entire world, i guess", he says "By the way, where the hell are we?", a question that can be answered by the first sentence of the video "Hi, you're on a rock, floating in space".
  • He is inspired by Jack Stauber.
