Burdie, also known as Tagswag, (which was formerly his main channel) Burdie Stories[1] or Wurdie, is an American YouTuber primarily known for making animated story time videos. He was previously known for making commentary videos on internet dramas and stories on his Tagswag channel.

Content[]

On his Burdie channel, he posts animations. Most of the videos revolve around his life stories or giving commentary on a certain aspect of life.

On his Tagswag channel, his content mainly consisted of videos looking at cringeworthy posts, mostly from Generation Z. He has also made videos on That Vegan Teacher and other YouTubers getting cancelled. He made commentary videos revolved around various YouTubers and TikTokers doing various controversial acts.

History[]

Tagswag created his channel on December 16, 2018. His oldest videos have been removed. He uploaded his first public video on December 28, 2019. He would slowly begin to garner an audience, though he wasn't very active on his channel.

He would begin to upload more consistently in May 2020. This would prove successful for his channel, and he would garner a larger fanbase of people. He reached 10,000 subscribers in November 2020 and his channel would continue to grow.

On June 21, 2021, Tagswag uploaded a video about That Vegan Teacher in a new clip she had just posted online.[2] This video gained significant traction, amassing over 2 million views and becoming the most viewed video on his channel. He reached 100,000 subscribers on June 30.

Launch of Burdie[]

In September 2022, he launched a channel known as Burdie, where he posts animated story time videos. These videos have become successful, and the channel has amassed over 500,000 subscribers. Likely as a result of Burdie's success, he began to become more active there and less active on Tagswag, last posting on the latter account before stopping activity in July 2023.[3] In March 2024, he removed all of the videos from the Tagswag channel.[4] He briefly returned to Tagswag in June of the same year, resuming uploads while still leaving his old catalog removed.[5] He again cleaned the channel's contents in early July and updated its description to announce that it will not longer be active.[6]

Launch of Wurdie[]

On January 29, 2023, Burdie would create a second channel titled Wurdie,[7] which serves as his second channel. The channel uses the exact same format as Burdie; animated Storytime videos and commentary videos discussing current events, such as comments featured on Instagram Reels.[8] The only real difference between Wurdie and Burdie is that the Wurdie channel uses a red-colored bird for the channel's profile picture.

The channel's most popular video has gathered over 3 million views, and was posted on March 3, 2023.[9] The channel's first video was posted on February 19, 2023.[10]

Controversy[]

Stealing content[]

On November 13, 2021, fellow commentary YouTuber Pegasus uploaded a video accusing Tagswag of copying his titles, thumbnails, and even the contents within the videos he posts from his channel.[11] The video gained traction, and many users supported Pegasus and his claims.

Tagswag uploaded a short video one day later explaining his thoughts.[12] He said in his video that making content on social media and social media posts (which were part of Pegasus' accusations) was free for anybody's use and claimed that Pegasus was making the situation out to be more than it was. He stated he is a fan of Pegasus' channel and that he takes inspiration from his content. This response garnered backlash, with the dislikes vastly outnumbering the likes. Many criticized Tagswag's response for "missing the point" of the whole situation, that being he allegedly nearly directly copies Pegasus' commentary and content. Tagswag later took the video down.

Pegasus uploaded a video on November 15 titled "My Final Response".[13] In this video, he dismisses Tagswag's defense, calling it "absolute garbage". He said that the problem wasn't that Tagswag used similar video ideas, but that he persistently took things such as titles, thumbnails, and talking points. Pegasus mentioned that he wants this video to be the final video on the situation and urged Tagswag not to make another response video on his channel, saying "Don't use your words, use your actions to prove that you've changed".[14]
