Charles Duncan "Charlie" Green V (born: May 10, 1999),[1] better known online as CG5 or CG5live, is an American musical artist, record producer, and YouTuber who creates original songs, remixes, and covers based on popular topics like video games, and memes. As of June 2024, he has over 7.4 million subscribers and over 2.5 billion views on his main YouTube channel.

CG5's majority of songs consist of pop and electronic music based on popular topics such as video games, popular memes, trends, and about other communities on the internet. Such examples are: "Spotlight", based on Bendy and the Ink Machine; "Lyin' 2 Me", based on Among Us; "Never Grow Up", based on the SCP Foundation; "Sleep Well", based on Poppy Playtime, "I See A Dreamer", based on Dream's Minecraft Manhunt series and "Grimace" from the Grimace Shake trend. The lyrics of his songs are majorly open, so people who are not well-versed into the topic can still enjoy the music nonetheless.
Personal life[]
As of now, CG5 lives in Phoenix, Arizona. Charlie has three siblings: Matilda, Jonah, and Silas. Charlie's has a roommate named Andrew, who is also one of Charlie's good friends. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.[2][3] Charlie has also mentioned multiple times that he is heterosexual (straight). He was finally married in 2024.[4]
Health[]
Charlie has stated in an interview with Matt Fitzburg that he is autistic, however, he was supposedly not fully diagnosed.[5] Charlie also mentioned that he has scoliosis, even writing a song about it in 2019.[6] Later in 2024, he revealed he had Obsessive Compulsive Dissorder (OCD), also writing a song about it.
History[]
CG5 had a strong interest in 80's and 90's music when he was 2-years old. 3 years later,[7] he'd start creating music on his computer using a digital audio workstation (DAW), Hip-Hop eJay 4. He'd started uploading covers to the internet when he was 10-years old under the YouTube name, Charlie Green.
In 2016, Charlie launched the CG5 channel where he would post remixes, in contrary to Charlie Green where he would only do covers. CG5 is an abbreviation of his real name, excluding his middle name: Charlie Green the 5th[8] For unknown reasons, he never used CG5 as his channel name until 2014 when he launched the CG5 channel, even though he calls himself CG5 on Charlie Green. He initially was anxious about singing on the channel, as his community only knows him for remixes, and he may risk losing subscribers. CG5 would release his song, Amen. The song became viral which resulted in him making more songs that would in turn, become viral. With the amount of success he had with the channel, he decided to switch over.

However, he isn't very appreciated on TikTok, as some people claim that he unintentionally ruins popular memes associated with his songs, most notably "Only in Ohio" and "GRIMACE." Despite this, it's important to note that CG5 is self-aware of this perception and acknowledges that his involvement may impact the meme experience. Nevertheless, he still manages to garner appreciation on TikTok, particularly when he showcases his talent through exceptional duets, well-received songs, or covers.
On Twitter, the overall reception varies, ranging from the usual fan art and meetups to instances of hate directed towards him. - In 2017, CG5 and OR3O collaborated to create the song "Absolutely Anything". In 2019, the song gained popularity on TikTok with the popular lyric, "I used to be so beautiful. Now, look at me..."
- The popularity of "Absolutely Anything" caught the attention of the music label Spinnin' Records, leading them to reach out to CG5 and OR3O for a 2020 edit of the song.
- CG5 uses the digital audio workstation (DAW) software Ableton to produce his music.[25]
- On August 24, 2022, CG5 embarked on a tour where he performed several of his songs, including ones related to the Dream SMP such as "I See A Dreamer", "Gone Away", and "tommy innit".

- It received criticism for several reasons. Firstly, some people felt that the song was not as professionally made as other songs by CG5, yet it was the one chosen for the interview. Additionally, the song was criticized for lacking any deep meaning, which is something that is typically discussed in Genius interviews.
- CG5 created a pair of videos on his alternate channel regarding his interview, one of which was a response, and the other was a response to the YouTuber "AugustTheDuck's" reaction.[30][31]
- The YouTube playlist called "Among Us Fan Works" by Innersloth features CG5's track called "Lyin 2' Me".[32]
- In 2021, CG5 made his own mod for Friday Night Funkin' which included three unique songs. The mod was also featured on their Kickstarter trailer along with other Friday Night Funkin' mods.[33]
- On July 1, 2022, CG5 sung the USA national anthem for a baseball game at Wrigley Field stadium.[34]
- After Technoblade's passing, CG5 stated on Twitter and in a now-private video that he will not be making a song about his passing since it feels disrespectful to capitalize on his death.[35]
- CG5 has participated in a MrBeast Gaming video. His teammates were BadBoyHalo, GoldActual, and Ayundaru.[36]
- CG5 is responsible for the mixing of CaptainSparklez's song, Rising Kingdom.
- CG5 has himself as his Top #1 artist on his Spotify Wrapped for 2022.
- LeGrand is another music artist that had some of his fans say he sounds like CG5. Coincidentally, his music studio is just a couple of blocks away from where he is. With contact from a friend of a friend, they were able to gain contact and collaborate for an extended version of his song, give a little.
- CG5 has been known to often "kill" memes when he releases his songs about popular memes such as his Only in Ohio song and his YT short of about the Grimace shake.
- CG5 created 2 songs that are called "BRO" and "we live we love we lie" but on spotify, the second song is called "LIVE LOVE LIE"
- He collaborated with Belarusian YouTuber kirkiimad in the latter's song ily (I Love You).
