―Calfreezy's intro

Callum Leighton Airey (born: November 17, 1994 (1994-11-17) [age 29])[1], better known online as Calfreezy (or simply Freezy or Cal), is an English-Scottish[2] YouTuber who is mainly known for his gameplay videos that often feature the Sidemen.

Early Life[]

Growing up, Cal resided in nations like Russia, Vietnam, Egypt and Scotland.[3] Cal grew up in an extremely wealthy environment but he has done everything possible to shake off his Tory image by using slang that is usually used in the endz and sound unnatural rolling off the tongue of a Tory such as himself. This may be to seem more relatable to a young audience who haven't grown up in the lap of luxury like himself.[4]

YouTube Career[]

Calfreezy is a relatively well known YouTuber who is known by most as the annoying guy who piggybacks of the sidemen’s name and wealth, however he himself has a large fortune which is believed to originate from a trust fund set up by his parents. He started with playing Call of Duty, then went on to FIFA where he did his most successful series the QPR career mode, Tags and Q&A's. He currently posts vlogs, challenges and prank style videos on his channel.

He was previously residing with fellow YouTube stars, W2S and Callux in 150 High Street, Stratford building, situated in London.[5] In 2020, he and Harry moved into a new house in London while Callux bought his own nearby until 2022.[6]

He also has a vlogging channel called "More Calfreezy" that he started in February 2015; although he never made videos on that channel past its starting month. That channel has a bit less than 150,000 subscribers with 6 videos. He also started a gaming channel known as "Cals Clips" on March 16, 2020. On this channel he went over a month without post. However he posts daily now.[7]

In 2021, Freezy and TheBurntChip founded The Fellas Studios, shortly after the launch of its flagship and self-titled podcast The Fellas. Due to the success of the podcast, the pair were able to launch further podcasts hosted by various creators and personalities, the first of which being Pitchside, which saw YouTubers Theo Baker, Tom Garratt and REEV discussing football-related content and doing watchalongs on livestreams, one of which would go viral after host Tom snapped his arm while competing in an arm wrestle with co-host Theo.[8][9]

The production house saw a £1.5 million investment from fellow online creators KSI as well as his YouTube group the Sidemen in 2023. Other investors included in the deal were WillNE, ChrisMD and Callux.[10]

Freezy stated in 2023 that the business "wanted to shift away from how podcasts were traditionally structured for creators and build not only individual shows but entire brands" and that the large investments were "massive vindication of what we set out to do when we launched Fellas Studios back in 2021".[10]

In May 2024, Freezy launched a golf channel named "Big Wedge Golf" with YouTubers W2S, Miniminter, Zerkaa, Callux and Randolph.[11]

Controversy[]

James Arthur Drama[]

Calfreezy responded to James Arthur after he started a beef with his friend Miniminter on Twitter, calling Arthur "a wetty".[12] Arthur responded to Cal by threatening to "slap this head off".[13] Calfreezy retweeted the post and responded with, "surely a grown man isn't tweeting like this. Strings".[14] Arthur then responded to Calfreezy's repost with, "Are you not a grown man? You call people wetty's on the internet acting hard from the safety of your home".[15]

During the beef, more YouTubers and fans got involved including W2S[16], INabber, Eleanor Neale[17] and JaackMaate. James would announce that he would be leaving Twitter, with the following tweet, "Have to be honest some of the things I read on here go a bit toot far and quite frankly fuckin hurt, if that was your goal you win Maybe I should have thicker skin at this point I don’t know but either way this is my last tweet, I’m loggin off. Peace out Twitter friends".[18]

On JaackMaate's Happy Hour, Calfreezy reveals some DMs he had from James Arthur. Cal read the DM that has the following, “The state of you. Stop acting hard. You’re just trying to get a cheap laugh off of kids. Aren’t you, like, 25? This is between me and you, now. I’m messaging you directly. I’m not playing games, man, that’s seriously offensive". Which the group seemed to find the messages hilarious, and Calfreezy said there was a lot there but it was all just “waffle” about being offended by it.[19]

Freezy also revealed that Arthur’s showing support for Logan Paul was clearly his attempt at being a wind-up, so it became fair-game for him to win Arthur up in return.[19]
