Montreal Canadiens[Note 1][Note 2][1] is a Canadian NHL team. They currently play for the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference.
History[]
They were founded on December 4, 1909, by Ambrose O'Brien, for the NHA.[2]
In 1916, they won their first Stanley Cup title.
In 1917, they moved from the NHA to the NHL, as a founding team.[2]
In 1924, they won their first Stanley Cup title as part of the NHL.
