Zachary Hertzler[1] (born: 2006 [age 18–19])[1][2] better known online as Capitol Rail Productions (formerly ZUnit06[2]) is an American YouTuber from Bennet, Nebraska.[1]

Content[]

He began his channel with Minecraft videos[3] but he eventually got interested in train-spotting. He would spot and film trains in his home state of Nebraska and upload them to his YouTube channel. He filmed trains in Roca,[4] Lincoln,[5] Waterloo,[6] Rodger[7] Firth[8] and his hometown of Bennet.[9] Theres not much known about CCR Productions early life. He had 65 videos on his channel and close to 1,000 subcribers before it was terminated.[10]

Controversy & Arrest[]

On April 21st, 2024, CCR was filming a BNSF train that was delivering coal to the Nebraska power plant when the train derailed. The derailment caught on camera by CCR didn't cause any fatalities or injuries, but did cause $350,000 in damages.[1] CCR was initially helpful in the case showing investigators his footage and explaining how it happened, but investigators found it suspicious he knew so much about the lever.[1] 2 days after the incident CCR would upload the video "Loaded BNSF Arbor COLLIDES and DERAILS in Bennet, NE! MOST INSANE VIDEO I'VE EVER TAKEN![9]." In the video he claimed he knew nothing about how the train tipped and theorized the people putting the coal cart on there had forgot to change it back.[9] The investigators however were growing more and more suspicious. A padlock that was supposed to be on the lever wasn't there meaning it had clearly been tampered with. Security camera footage also showed CCR walking towards the lever and back before setting up his footage (although the lever itself was off-camera.)[11] Despite a growing case against him the video would blow up gaining just over 600,000 views before being deleted. It would get two sequels, the first of which uploaded on May 7th, 2024, maintained he knew nothing about the crash and further speculated on possibilities for the cause and showed more footage of the site. This video wouldn't do nearly as good as the first only getting around 7,000 views before deletion. On May 23rd, 2024, he'd upload another video where he returned to the scene and examined the cars involved in the accident. The one did slightly better than the 2nd one but paled in comparison to the 1st one only getting 10,000 views[12]. After this investigators would get a warrant to retrieve CCRs tripod and cellphone and he would be arrested on two counts of criminal mischief, at least $5,000 in fines, and at least 10 years in prison. The court motioned to have him tried as an adult which would get him a harsher sentence, which was accepted on August 19th, 2024,[13] The trial is still ongoing.

Spread[]

In July 2024, after he was arrested many YouTubers in the railfan community would make commentary videos covering the incident[14][15][16] and the story would eventually be covered by mainstream YouTubers like Atozy,[17] AugustTheDuck[18] and Penguinz0.[19] Most of the railfan community would condemn this act and talk about how it makes the community looked bad and the greater commentary community just generally mocked him. The story would also be covered by the online tabloid Dexerto[20] which specializes in social media stories. The channel would stay up for awhile but in late August 2024, the channel would be terminated by YouTube.
