The Carolina Hurricanes are an American NHL team. They are currently based in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, and they currently play for the Metropolitan Division in the Eastern Conference.

History[]

They were founded in 1972, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, as the New England Whalers, as a part of the WHA.[1]

In 1979, after the WHA and the NHL merged, they were forced to move to Hartford, Connecticut, United States.[1]

In 1997, they moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, and changed their name to the Hurricanes.[1]

In 2006, they won their first Stanley Cup title.[2]
