Carte Blanche is a South African journalism TV series that airs on M-Net. It released on August 26, 1988.

History[]

It began its broadcast in 1988, mostly anchored by Derek Watts and Ruda Landman. Landman left the show in 2007, the year Bongani Bingwa became a presenter.

In 2010, two spinoff series, Carte Blanche Medical and Carte Blanche Consumer, began. Medical premiered on January 18, and was anchored by Bingwa, while Consumer, premiering on January 24, was anchored by Devi Sankaree Govender. Both series, which ran for four seasons, were cancelled in 2011. Shortly thereafter, on January 24, 2011, Carte Blanche Extra launched, but was canceled after only airing 10 episodes.

A book called Carte Blanche 25: The Stories Behind the Stories was published, which focused on memorable moments behind the scenes of the series.

A Carte Blanche channel featuring coverage of the trial of Oscar Pistorius was launched on DStv in March 2014.

Channel[]

The channel was created on February 8, 2017, and the first video was uploaded on January 21, 2019. The channel uploads clips from the TV series or interviews.
