Fauna Ceres (セレス・ファウナ) (born March 21)[2] was a VTuber who was associated with Hololive EN's second generation, HoloCouncil.[3] She debuted with four other VTubers, Sana Tsukumo, Kronii Ouro, Mumei Nanashi and Baelz Hakos.[citation needed]

Content[]

Fauna' debut stream was livestreamed on August 23, 2021. The stream consisted of her chatting with her fans and expanding upon her lore, as well as revealing more things about herself. She said that she liked animals, drawing, the kalimba, tea, co-op games, horror, and cats, and that peaches were her favorite fruit other than her golden apple. She preferred animals to plants, (noting that her name is Fauna, not Flora), and she drank her tea hot and without milk or sugar. She also enjoyed peach tea. When asked for her dislikes, she said she despised mushrooms as a food, grasshoppers and elevators, and that she had a particular fear for the latter.[4]

Her favorite games included Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, Animal Crossing, Okami, SOMA, and Super Mario Odyssey. She also favored horror games, but tended to get easily scared while playing them. Her favorite anime were Neon Genesis Evangelion, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, Mob Psycho 100, Made in Abyss, Hunter x Hunter and Death Note, and her favorite music artists were Kiki vivi lily, satomoka, and bossa nova.[5]

She stated that her goals were to learn Japanese, learn to sing, create her own original song, perform offline collabs with HoloOmen, learn to speedrun games (such as Minecraft and Mario Odyssey), and to become a voice actress in a video game. She added that she intended on making content that involved drawing, weekly ASMRs and community days and ended it with by singing Sweets Parade from Inu x Boku SS.[6]

Her debut was followed up by a Q&A stream where she answered questions through Marshmallow. The first game Fauna ever streamed was Spore.[7] She has also played Pokemon Unite, Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Hitman 2, Fall Guys, Equilinox, Ib, Skyrim, Among Us, Pokemon: Legends of Arceus, Bad End Theater, Vampire Survivors, Subnautica, Jump King, The Closing Shift, 60 Seconds, The Convenience Store, Sucker for Love: First Date, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Sucker for Love: First Date, Cult of the Lamb, Friday Night Funkin', Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Jump King, Hyonspace Outlaw, Passpartout, Death Road to Canada, Dome Keeper, Civilization V and Stray. Fauna's other content includes creating tier lists of her food tastes, drawing streams and chatting streams. On August 28, she uploaded her first ASMR stream, and would stream them once a week.[8] She has also uploaded streams of her playing the kalimba, and she reserves streams dedicated to superchat reading. For Halloween 2021, she held a special drawing stream where she drew herself as a witch. On December 3, 2021, she streamed herself learning Japanese through Duolingo for the first time. For Halloween 2022, Fauna wrote three original horror stories about HoloEN in an alternate universe, consistent with their lore.[9]

Collaborations[]

Fauna's second gaming stream was of Don't Starve Together, which was also her first collaboration, with Mumei.[10] The two have also collaborated to watch The Twilight Saga movies and played Nightfall together.[11][12]

A running gag is Fauna's love for Mumei, and Kronii and Fauna arguing over Mumei's romantic affections. Despite being the embodiment of nature, there are many times when Fauna would terrorize her domain, such as accidentally starting fires or prioritizing money or resources over nature in games; the biggest example would be when Mumei died by being pricked by a bush and Fauna burned down every bush in sight because Mumei didn't specify which one caused her death (likely out of fear that Fauna would destroy it). Nevertheless, she insists that she is a pacifist. The three once held an off-collab ASMR together.[13] Mumei herself seems to favor the KroMei ship, as she dragged Kronii into Reine's room in order to recreate a Reine x reader fanfic with her, with IRyS as the narrator. During a Dead by Daylight collab, Fauna was the killer (as Kronii, Baelz, IRyS, Gura and Calliope were the survivors), but the stream became an unintentional source of comedy due to her soft voice sharply contrasting with the killers' threatening designs and behaviour.[citation needed]

Fauna and Kronii also butt heads due to Kronii's Bunkeronii operations unfairly enslaving/underpaying the Zombie Pigmen and Fauna protesting for their rights. Fauna's stream of Devour featured Kronii and Mumei. Fauna and Kronii have also played Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes together[14].

For Christmas 2021, Baelz and Fauna reviewed their viewer's Christmas trees[15]. Baelz and Fauna have also played Resident Evil 7, Amnesia: The Dark Descent and The Mortuary Assistant[16][17][18] Fauna, Mumei and Baelz celebrated New Year's Eve 2023 together, and in the same stream, got very drunk.[19]

Before joining Hololive she was a huge fan of Gura, and considered their collaboration a dream come true. She has also stated that she likes Gura because they both can be "cringe" together. She ships Gura and Amelia[20]. She has also played Mario Kart 8 with Gura.[21]

She has a lot of similarities with Ina'nis Ninomae of HoloMyth. Both like to makes puns (Fauna's first tweet was one[22] and their first Twitter interaction was a pun-off), both have moles under their left eye, Ina is a priest according to her lore, while Ceres' lore states that she is a druid (who are considered priests under Celtic mythology). Later Fauna said that pre-hololive, she liked watching Ina'nis, and when she meet Ina, she expected her to be a spoiled brat but was surprised to find out Ina'nis was sweet.[23]

Sana and Fauna were part of a chatting stream with Calliope.[24] Calli, IRyS and Baelz have said that they find her voice arousing[25].

Kiara and Fauna have played Clubhouse 51 games together.[26]

She is also a huge Noel Shirogane fan.[citation needed]

Fauna and Reine's first collaboration was a Minecraft stream, and the two have also played Escape Simulator together.[27][28]

On April 19, 2022, Fauna was interviewed by Crunchyroll[30]. In a later interview, she would reveal her top 10 anime (in no order) to be Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Made in Abyss, Mob Psycho 100, Future Diary, Kamisama Kiss, Maid-Sama and Odd Taxi. As a bonus, she revealed her favourite manga to be Fruits Basket[31].

In December 2022, Kiara travelled to Japan and met Fauna, Mumei and Baelz in real life for the first time. Others present at this off-collab were Calliope and Reine. This six attended a karaoke bar and went to a restaurant together.[32]

Her character designer is Asagi Tōsaka. She shares her character designer with Ema Aizawa and Aria Kurokiri.

She is 164cm (5'5") tall.[47]

The name "Ceres" is also the name of an ancient Roman goddess of agriculture and fertility. It is also the name of a dwarf planet or large asteroid.

Lore[]

A member of the Council and the Keeper of "Nature," the second concept created by the Gods. She has materialized in the mortal realm as a druid in a bid to save nature. She has Kirin blood flowing in her veins, and horns that are made out of the branches of a certain tree; they are NOT deer antlers. "Nature" refers to all organic matter on the planet except mankind. It is long said that her whispers, as an avatar of Mother Nature, have healing properties. Whether or not that is true is something only those who have heard them can say. While she is usually affable, warm, and slightly mischievous, any who anger her will bear the full brunt of Nature's fury.[50]

Fauna announcing that she will attend Youmacon 2022

On October 25, the official Anime NYC Twitter account tweeted that every HoloCouncil member were scheduled appear in "Anime NYC".[53] On November 2, Omocat tweeted that they scheduled a collaboration with all of HoloEN[54].

On April 26, 2022, Anime Boston announced that their convention would feature hololive talents Reine, Ollie, Kronii and Fauna[55]. On July 14, 2022, Crunchyroll Expo tweeted that Fauna would be a Featured Guest at the convention[56]. Personal life[]

Fauna is a vegan, as is her family.[74][75]

In her debut stream she introduced her two cats, a beige/brown cat named Clover † (2000-2022 [aged 22]), and a black cat named Snail (born: 2011 [age 14–15]). Both Clover and Snail were adopted from shelters.[76] In November 2022, Clover passed away, and Fauna was so devastated she had to take a hiatus.[77]

Fauna mentions that she used to have another job pre-hololive, but hasn't specified what it was. She once dreamt that she didn't tell her old job that she quit.[78]

  • Her channel name is written in Japanese order which means that Fauna is her given name and Ceres is her family name.
  • Her native tongue is English, but she speaks some French, as she took a French class in high school[81].
    • As of Fall 2021, Fauna has started learning Japanese and can speak it at a conversational level[82].
  • Fauna doesn't swear during streaming because in middle school, she said "I fucking hate dodgeball" and was shamed for it by a friend[83].
