The Chicago Cubs are an American MLB team based in Chicago, Illinois, United States.
History[]
In 1870, they begun under the name Chicago White Stockings.
Six years later, they joined the National League. After this, their then-owner William Hulbert signed various star players, including pitcher Albert Spalding and infielders Ross Barnes, Deacon White, and Adrian Anson. They quickly established themselves as one of the National League's top teams.
After back-to-back pennants in 1880 and 1881, Hulbert died and Spalding, who had retired to make his company Spalding sporting goods, became owner.
