Although originally only uploading reaction videos, particularly featuring himself reacting to content related to the popular indie horror game franchise Five Nights at Freddy's, his channel began to feature a large amount of gaming content around 2019. Originally, these gaming videos were uploaded to a secondary channel, known as iCist, however, this channel is now inactive, and Cist uploads gaming content onto his main channel alongside the reaction videos.

Before Cist began making YouTube videos, Cist was active on Vine under the username JustClickNWatch. However, due to Vine being shut down in 2018, this account is no longer accessible. Cist later joined Twitter in October 2014, under the handle @JustClickNWatch. This is the Twitter account that he still uses today. Although there are very few records of the channel existing, Cist has claimed that before creating the CistReactZ channel, he was on YouTube under the username xXDyingCistXx, although YouTube has no current records of this channel, and Cist himself does not currently have any links or references to this channel on his profile. It can be assumed that the channel either did not exist or was deleted after Cist's current channel began to grow more popular.
The CistReactZ channel was created on July 3, 2015, with his first video, a short introduction to his channel, being uploaded the following day. His first real video, a reaction to the trailer for the indie horror game Five Night's at Freddy 4's, was uploaded on July 14.
