Colin Peter Furze (born: October 14, 1979 ) is an English YouTuber, stuntman, and filmmaker from Stamford, Lincolnshire, England who is mainly known for his inventions that he uploads on his YouTube channel.
As a child, Colin attended Malcolm Sargent Primary School and later went to secondary school. At that time, he had already been making on a few projects such as building underground dens and tree houses. At age 16, he left school to start working as a plumber, a job which focused on him to work on gadgets and engineering.
Colin discovered YouTube when his father died and began sharing his inventions on the video-sharing site starting with his wall of death video, which he originally uploaded in 2007.
In 2012, Colin and his wife gave birth to their son Jake. He has been featured in some of his videos.
Several of the inventions Colin has made over the years have been uploaded onto his YouTube channel. On March 13, 2010, Colin uploaded a video of his converted scooter which could shoot flames up to 15 feet in the air by using a flame thrower. He was arrested on March 25 of that year and sentenced to prison by the police for possessing an object converted into a firearm and released without bail the next day.
On May 5, 2014, Colin uploaded a DIY (do-it-yourself) video where he designed a set of realistic Wolverine claws which were based on a pneumatic system. This video was made in order to kick off his 3-week long X-Men characters special. After a week when it was published, the video received over 3 million views.
On October 23, 2015, Colin constructed a Hidden Blade to promote the new Ubisoft game, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate.
On November 27, 2015, as part of a request from Sky1 to promote their series You, Me and the Apocalypse, Colin constructed and underground bomb shelter beneath his garden which contained multiple rooms including a game room and a kitchen, as well as a functioning air filtration system, and has an entrance shaft concealed by a garden shed.
On April 28, 2016, Colin created a hoverbike by using two paramotors. It is also his most viewed video on his YouTube channel with almost over 40 million views after its initial upload.
Colin completed three Star Wars themed projects in partnership with the multinational corporation site eBay. One of them was a giant AT-AT garden playhouse along with a full-size Kylo Ren Tie Silencer. On December 8, 2019, he completed his jet powered land speeder with parts that he ordered from the site. The vehicle was later auctioned off with all of its funds going to BBC Children in Need.
This Book Isn't Safe
Colin's book titled This Book Isn't Safe was published in 2017 by Penguin Random House. The book features projects that people can recreate at home and spur their interests in engineering.
