Why is no one talking about the mouthfeel?!

―ContraPoints

Natalie Wynn (born: October 21, 1988 (1988-10-21) [age 36]), better known online as ContraPoints, is an American commentary YouTuber.

Content[]

Natalie's content is mostly commentary where she debates about a certain topic, usually political. Natalie started her channel on February 3, 2011. Her earliest video that is still available was posted on September 1, 2017.[1] She makes videos about the philosophy of racism, hatred, envy, misogyny, opulence, J. K. Rowling, Jordan Peterson and other political/philosophical themes; these commentary videos are often an hour long in nature and explore various sides of the topic.

Personal life[]

Natalie is originally from Virginia.[2] She is a transgender woman and a lesbian. She dropped out of a philosophy PhD.[3] For a short while she struggled with being an addict.

Controversy[]

Feud with Vaush[]

Ian and Natalie used to be friends. However in March 2022, Vaush and Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling got into a Twitter arguement. Vaush tweeted "All JK Rowling had to do was shut the fuck up and she could have been almost uncritically beloved for a century. Women be quieter and start apologizing challenge". Rowling would respond with "What you and your ilk fail to appreciate is how tediously familiar I find your tactics. I had a violent ex-husband who used to tell me life would be great if only I’d comply, but you’re making the same mistake he did. Women like me can’t be bullied out of resistance."[4]

Vaush was condemned for his statement by many people because the joke was misogynistic. When Vaush claimed he was doing it for the sake of trans women, Natalie critisized him, saying "Doing edgy ironic misogyny while defending trans people magnifies the grain of truth in what TERFs say about there being misogyny in “trans activism.” Maybe your tweet at JK just didn’t land the way you wanted. Ok fine, it happens. But why get so defensive about reasonable criticism. It just strikes me as off that you’re extremely confident you definitely know better than a trans woman who’s been doing this activism for over a decade. And it kind of compounds my discomfort with the “women be quieter” tweet"[5]. Vaush asked her why she was getting involved, and she responded by saying "Because it’s maddening to watch you pose as the savior of the transgenders, then do edgy misogyny in the name of that, and finally meltdown when a trans woman who knows more than you about this criticizes you for it"[6].

Later ContraPoints would tweet "Are you done being mad that some trans women disagree that being misogynistic is actually an intricate strategy for being our savior" and "So you don’t defend the misogyny but you do defend… misogyny in the service of saving the transgenders?? I honestly don’t get it". In response to the former tweet, Vaush would joke about Natalie's former substance addiction on stream;[7] shortly after this she blocked Vaush.[8][9][10] Due to him speaking over a trans woman he was then accused of transphobia and condemned by other members of the BreadTube community[11].

Following these accusations, Kat Blaque would reveal she used to be in a relationship with Vaush and sexted him[12]. Kat was criticized because she posted DMs of her and Vaush despite claiming to care about safe consensual sex. Many pointed out that leaking the information of past sexual relations constituted sexual harassment[13].
