―Cookie Run |
Cookie Run is a video game series created by the South Korean company, Devsisters. Each of the Youtube channels is specialized for a different game or language. The protagonist of the game series is GingerBrave. The two most popular games, Cookie Run: Ovenbreak and Cookie Run: Kingdom have multiple channels in different languages. The YouTube channels upload update previews, and content related to each of the games to their channels.
History[]
Early History (OvenBreak and OvenBreak 2 era)[]
The Cookie Run series first began with a name called OvenBreak which was released on June 15, 2009, where you play as GingerBrave whom he has to escape from being eaten by the witch following the death of his brother Dozer. There are 10 game modes in the game, with one of them being a collaboration with Skittles. The game was later updated to OvenBreak 2 in 2012, but was delisted/removed from the App Store and Google Play in late 2013.
Kakao/LINE era[]
Around 8 months before OvenBreak/OvenBreak 2 was removed, a Cookie Run game for Kakao was released in South Korea on 2 April 2013. The LINE version of the game was later released globally on 29 January 2014, and became very popular in Asia sometime after its release. This was the game that replaced the series' title from "OvenBreak" to "Cookie Run". The LINE version of the game however shut down on 2018.
OvenBreak era[]
On October 27, 2016, Cookie Run: Ovenbreak was released. The game still receives updates and is in it's 8th season. The game is one of Devsister's most popular, featuring a user's obtained cookie of choice running and jumping to gain points on a level/gamemode. In Cookie Run:Ovenbreak, players obtain the characters/cookies through a gacha system which requires currency to pull from which can be obtained through completing stages, missions, events, and more.
Cookie Run: Kingdom[]
On January 21, 2021, Cookie Run: Kingdom was released and was the first Cookie Run game to feature voice acting, with only the Korean voice acting being available in its initial release. Later updates added the Japanese, English, Taiwanese Chinese, Thai, French, German and Mainland Chinese dubs respectively.
There are 11 languages available in the game, with the original languages being Korean, Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese, and Thai. Later updates included French, German, Simplified Chinese (albeit exclusive in the People's Republic of China) and 3 languages that are in development which are being Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Indonesian (with the latter two being removed, likely due to lack of popularity).
Around mid-late 2021, the game gained a large amount of popularity following Genshin Impact's 1st anniversary controversy about the rewards. This was the time where the Cookie Run franchise became very popular outside of Asia.
The game features a variety of gamemodes where users can play using teams of their obtained cookies. The most notable game modes are player vs player (PVP) and player vs enemy (PVE). Just like Cookie Run:Ovenbreak, players obtain the characters/cookies through a gacha system which requires currency to pull from which can be obtained in various parts of the game.
Cookie Run Braverse[]
Cookie Run Braverse is a cookie themed card game. Cookies found on the cards have different stats listed below the character art of them found on the card. Cookies in this game come from previous installments in the Cookie Run Franchise across all previous games, including discontinued ones. The card game was released in Korea in September of 2023 and is set to release globally in February of 2024.

The update came with a special gacha in which a player could only obtain limited time decor from the World of Magic & Dreams set and the guest Cookies and their soulstones. After the event ended, neither the cookies nor decor were obtainable and the special gacha was removed. The guest cookies decor had music from each of the cookies movies. The collaboration was the longest one in Cookie Run: Kingdom, lasting for approximately three months. The special gacha was added back during this time in which players could obtain the BTS cookies and their soulstones/soulcores, BTS costumes, and BTS decor. After the event ended, the event gacha was gone and the BTS cookies could no longer be ascended or promoted, along with the BTS decor and special BTS costumes becoming unobtainable.
