PewDiePie with his Custom Play Button (for surpassing 50 million subscribers).
The Custom Play Button, also known as the Ruby Play Button is a creator award given to YouTubers for reaching 50 million subscribers. It has no definite shape or color and as the name suggests is custom made with the channel's logo and other features put on it.
So far, only four channels have been confirmed to have received the Custom Play Button. The first receiver of the award was PewDiePie who actually coined the term "Ruby Play Button" which would remain the name of this award for several years. He reached 50 million subscribers on December 2016 and later claimed his play button. T-Series, who reached 50 million subscribers on June 2018 claimed their play button with their logo inside the play button. Canal KondZilla, who reached 50 million subscribers on June 2019 claimed their colorful and round play button in July 2019. BLACKPINK, who reached 50 million subscribers on October 2020 claimed their play button in November 2020. MrBeast, who reached 50 million subscribers on January 2021 claimed their semi-official play button in March 2021. Pinkfong claimed their play button in August 2021, with a reference to Baby Shark, their most popular song.
What they look like
PewDiePie
PewDiePie's award was made in the shape of his channel's logo, a "brofist" fist, and also came with several mini-awards to be gifted to subscribers that had been subscribed the longest and were still active (a decision made by Felix himself).
T-Series
The T-Series play button displays the logo of T-Series in white color, and is made with transparent glass, which indicates that each channel that reaches 50 million subscribers will receive a customized award, not necessarily red in color.
Canal KondZilla
Canal KondZilla's award is unique in that it's the only custom play button to be round in shape. In addition, the award is black with Canal KondZilla's logo on the side. Beside the logo says "50 milhões" meaning "50 million" in Portuguese.
BLACKPINK
BLACKPINK's award consists of a pink stand with a black YouTube logo on top as those are the two colors chosen to be the band's name. In addition, the pink stand reads "The Show" referring to a concert BLACKPINK performed live on YouTube in December 2020.
Channels without Play Buttons
There is no confirmation that every YouTuber who gets 50 million subscribers will get a custom play button. Although there isn't an official explanation for this, many speculate that it's because YouTube is growing everyday with 20 channels having over 50 million subscribers. It would be very difficult for YouTube to create a custom play button for each channel. Channels that haven't been confirmed to have received this award include Cocomelon, SET India, ✿ Kids Diana Show, WWE, 5-Minute Crafts, Zee Music Company, Like Nastya, Vlad and Niki, Justin Bieber, Zee TV, Dude Perfect, BANGTANTV, Marshmello, Movieclips, Goldmines Telefilms, ChuChu TV and Ariana Grande.
