The Denmark national football team (Danish: Danmarks herre-fodboldlandshold or herrelandsholdet) represents Denmark and Greenland in men's international football competitions.

The Dansk Boldspil-Union was established on May 18, 1889, and became the first national football association outside Great Britain and Ireland.[1]

On October 19, 1908, the first official national football match took place during the Olympic Games in London, with Denmark defeating France's second team 9–0.[2]

In 1986, Denmark made their first World Cup appearance, losing to Spain 5-1 in the round of 16.[3]

UEFA announced on May 31, 1992 that Yugoslavia was excluded from the 1992 FIFA World Cup due to international sanctions from the Yugoslav wars, and their place was given to Denmark, who finished as the second-placed team in its qualifying group.[4] Denmark secured its first international trophy by winning a 2–0 victory against reigning World Cup champions Germany in the final.[5]
