Calm down, I'm just joshin.

―Damon's catchphrase, meaning that he doesn't have negative feelings towards the person in the video, and the video was just satire.

Hey bro, I'm not joshin'.

―Damon's opposite version of his usual catchphrase, whenever something that he discusses has became too real and he's serious.

Damon[2] (born: 2004 [age 19–20]),[citation needed] better known online as Daangdamon (or Damon), is an American YouTuber, animator, graphic designer, and voice actor.

Content[]

Daangdamon was a parody and satire channel that was known for making parodies of YouTube Shorts creators in a mocking and critical way. All of the videos were animated using an art style that uses a large collection of real life images that are upscaled and cutout into segments using Adobe Photoshop. This creates a very 2000's esque realistic art style that is often compared to Mad (2010-2013) and JibJab.

Damon tries to make it very clear in his videos that he does not hate the YouTubers in his videos, and does not want for anyone to spread hate over to anyone else's channel, or to even hate on people in the comments with opposing opinions. The majority of his viewers understand this, and even the YouTubers themselves leave positive comments quite often. He usually wraps up his disclaimers at the end of his videos with his catchphrase, "I'm just joshin".

Daangdamon was best known for the videos "Basically every Ray William Johnson Video", "Literally every Beastchild video", "Masteroogwgay is unfunny", "EDP's Clues", "Basically every The Ocky Way video", and "Dumb Ways to Die DOODLES AND THINGS".

History[]

I: The Important First Year[]

As a 9 year old, young Damon was only into playing Minecraft Pocket Edition with his sister and animating on a tablet that wasn't even his. One day, his dad suggested that he could start uploading his videos to YouTube. With the help of his dad, they created the channel "TheJohnnyandSamanthaShow" on August 27th, 2014 along with the first video "Pilot Part One".

Daangdamon's First Video

It all started with this first episode of "The Johnny and Samantha Show".

Damon made animations for his series "The Johnny and Samantha Show" on the Android app "Draw Cartoons" until his 10th birthday when his parents got him Flipboom All Star 4.0, a beginner's animation software. From the very start, his parents were very supportive and provided him with all the resources he needed to become the best animator he could be.

In June 2015, Damon changed his channel name to "Damian's Doodles and More!" as a result of his new series "Different Croaks". For the first year of the channel, his channel was frozen at 6 subscribers, and his only viewers was him and his family. He did not care at all, since his motive was to just make his own show that he thought was really cool.

II: YouTube with Friends[]

Barnacle Bart (Doodles and Things)

This video was shown in Damon's classroom. It featured his friends Hudson, William, and Ivory.

Damon create his own book "BarnacleBart" in the 5th grade, and his teacher let him read it to the class. The book featured his classmates as surprise characters, which was what made the book special. Damon renamed his channel to "Doodles and Things" and posted an animated version of BarnacleBart on the channel. His teacher showed his video on the Smartboard in class one day, and his friends subscribed to his channel, and eventually started channels of their own. This boosted his channel up to 10 subscribers. ( 10 Subscriber Special Room Tour )

Damon animated almost weekly BarnacleBart animations for the whole spring and summer, and his animations were improving at a rapid rate. His parents saw the progression and got him some professional animation software as an 11th birthday gift (Toonboom Harmony Essentials). Damon entered a creative low point when he entered his first year of middle school and hardly uploaded at all from August 2016 - June 2017.

III: All Focus on Doodles and Things[]

YouTube Comments in a Nutshell (Doodles and Things)

This video was the start of the "Doodles and Things Era"

In July 2017, Damon's parents put him and his siblings into online schooling, which gave him a lot more time to work on his videos. He started to make more skit based animations such as "YouTube Comments in a Nutshell" and "Ridiculous Laughs". Damon's younger siblings started their own YouTube channels of their own, and they also started to voice in his animations.

On September 10th 2017, Damon created his Instagram page with the help of his mom. Along with the weekly YouTube videos, he was posting daily comics on Instagram, boosting the page to 100 followers in 2018.

In early 2018, Damon's videos "Dumb Ways to Die 2016" and "Mario Odyssey Trailer 2D Animated" started to creep their way up to 100K views each. This pushed the channel to 100 subscribers in February. You can watch the 100 sub special here.

Dumb Ways to Die 2019 DOODLES AND THINGS

IV: The Failed First Blow Up[]

In June 2019, Damon's newest video "Dumb Ways to Die 2019 DOODLES AND THINGS" started growing super fast out of nowhere. The channel went from 130 subs to 300 subs by August 2019. Damon was gathering an actual audience for the first time ever, and this could've been his chance to capitalize on it by making more Dumb Ways to Die content. Doodles and Things hit 1,000 subs in December, and Damon did not make any more Dumb Ways to Die content during this year and the year after. Most of his audience died out. Damon wasn't that bummed out though, since he wasn't really trying to gain a following at the time. Damon's life goal at the time was to have his own TV show later on.

Damon's mom suggested that he starts experimenting with his videos in late 2019, so he created two new series: "The Doodles and Things Show" (inspired by Great the Show) and "Damian's Drawing Class".

V: The Meatcanyon Lite Era[]

Guga Foods Parody (DOODLES AND THINGS)

During the Christmas break of 2020, Damon's dad showed him some fanart that YouTuber Guga Foods shared on his Instagram story. His dad said that he should make some fanart so a YouTuber could share it. Damon had a better idea - he could make fan animations for YouTubers and see what happens.

Damon posted his first parody "Dry Aged Angel, Let's DEWW IT!" which gained traction and led to Guga commenting on the video. It was around this time when Damon started to like the idea of being a YouTuber more than running an animated show for TV.

Sam the Cooking Guy Parody DOODLES AND THINGS

Damon saw the potential in these parodies, so he started to make the focus of the channel on parodies of cooking YouTubers. He was busy with high school at the time, so he could upload only once a month. In April 2021, he created his TikTok page, which would be important later on.

In December 2021, YouTuber SAM THE COOKING GUY , Damon and his dad's favorite YouTuber, saw the parody Damon made of him and gave a shoutout in this video at 11:03. Friend of Sam the Cooking Guy and host of the radio show, "The BBQ Central Show", reached out to Damon and asked if he was interested in making animations for his show.

VI: The Commission Work Era[]

Just graduating high school and looking for some money for college, Damon was onboard and made 3 animations for the show throughout 2021 and 2022. Damon's mom helped out a lot with writing the emails, pricing, and contracts. After that experience, Damon made animations and artwork for YouTubers and small podcasts. He also ran an Etsy shop where he sold caricatures, of which achieved a grand total of 6 sales.

Damon realized that he wasn't too invested in this way of making money, did not have much love for it, and wasn't making enough money from all the work. He literally had to donate plasma and get a job so he could pay his college bills in time. He could've committed more to the small business he had going on, but he just didn't care much for it.

VII: The Rebranding to Daangdamon[]

In June 2022, Damon went into a creative slump and started to hate how basic and unfunny his videos were. His channel had nothing to make it stand out. It was just another parodies channel. He needed something that would give it that extra kick.

He stopped uploading until January 2023, when he came up with what his channel should've been all along. He changed the channel name from "Doodles and Things" to "Daangdamon", and instead of making fan animations for cooking YouTubers, he started making satirical "roast parodies" on big YouTubers that were designed to get a reaction out of people. This was when his old catchphrase "Noice" was replaced with the more beloved "I'm just joshin".

This rebranding was immediately brought with success, as his TikTok videos started to get at least 10K views on average. In March 2023, his TikTok video on the Ocky Way blew up to 3.6M views in one week and blew up the page to 20K followers.

VIII: The Failure of the Second Blow Up[]

The videos leading up to the Ocky Way video were all bangers, but as soon as Damon had his viral TikTok, he lost his touch. The videos after the Ocky Way were some of Damon's absolute worst. This was the second time Damon failed to capitalize on a viral video... he was overthinking his videos, leading to them becoming very forced and painfully unfunny.

The Ocky Way (daangdamon)

Pretty much all of his TikTok followers died out and Damon was at a very low creative point. It wasn't until August 2023 when Damon realized that he just needed to stop overthinking his videos, and that's when his video roasting Bentellect blew up to 400K views. The video after that, "EDP's Clues" blew up to 1M views in a week. Daangdamon was back.

IX: The Success of the Third Blow Up[]

RWJ Video

In September 2023, Damon's video "Literally every Ray William Johnson video" gained 3.7M views in 5 weeks over on YouTube out of no where. Daangdamon was boosted to 25K subscribers in October 2023. Damon knew that this was his third viral success, and that he had to prove himself this time. He uploaded weekly videos, and each video did very well. The channel ended the year at 33K subscribers.

Damon continued weekly uploads and even some double uploads throughout the start of 2024, but he started to like his own videos less and less. He noticed that they weren't as funny again, and that he was holding back with his roasting. After a horrible creative slump, he uploaded the now famous video "Masteroogwgay is unfunny". This channel got a lot of traction and double the channel in size, and the real Masteroogwgay even reacted to it. Damon uploaded even better videos after this at a faster rate just as he is now.

X: Banned[]

On July 29, 2024, Damon was banned off of Youtube. According to a video by PeepIsAwesome, this ban was for breaking the harassment policy, but it is still unclear of what he actually did to get banned. Both believe this ban was wrong. Damon contacted YouTube on Twitter but to no avail. On August 2nd, Damon announced in his official Discord server that he had quit trying to reinstate his account, he later left the server soon after the announcement.
