Deodatus Andreas Deddy Cahyadi Sunjoyo (born: December 28, 1976 (1976-12-28)), or widely known as Deddy Corbuzier, is an Indonesian YouTuber, podcaster, presenter, mentalist (formerly), and actor. He is known as mentalist and podcaster in his YouTube channel called Close The Door.

Early Life

Deddy Corbuzier was born on December 28, 1976, in Jakarta, Indonesia. From his childhood, Deddy has loved to become magician. Initially, he learned simple magic trick from famous magician. He later learned complicated magic trick when he was 12 years old.

Career

He started his magician career when he was 18th years old, and he contracted in one of international hotel to perform his magic tricks. Since then, he become mentalist just before appeared in Impresario 008 on RCTI in 1998 until 2003 and his name became more widely known. He has appeared in 10 television stations. In 2010, Deddy began created his own program called “Hitam Putih” which was aired in 2010. In 2014, he decided to retire his mentalist career.

Deddy created his channel in 2009 but he didn’t upload first public video in July 2011 when he uploaded his video of his son about his son dreamed to meet his heroes. Later, he uploaded his video trailer of tv show and recording capture of television broadcast about himself. Later, he created his first video series called “Tactical Basic Combat”, the series is about how to defend by martial arts.

Deddy also created and uploaded his motivational video before he started his podcast series in July 2019 when he invited Kalina Oktarani in his podcast. He later created more episode of his podcast, his podcast become more popular after he invited Livi Zheng . Since then, Deddy focused on his podcast and some of artist or widely known person has invited to his podcast.

Personal Life

Deddy has one older sister, Christine Sudjojo which passed away in July 2, 2023 and His father was passed away in January 2007. He married first wife, Kalina Oktarani in 2005, the couple has one son named Azka. However, Deddy and his first wife divorced in 2013 due of different principle which leaving Deddy to raise his son himself. He later married with another woman, Sabrina Chairunussa who is one of Puteri Indonesia Finalist 2022.

Deddy was formerly Catholic, he converts to Islam in 2019 under Gus Miftah’s guidance. Deddy stated that his former religion were religious inheritance from his parents.

Controversy

Deddy has several controversies on his YouTube career. In May 2022, he invited gay couple Ragil Mahardika and Frederik, Deddy’s attitude was considered being support of LGBT’s movement. Later, he apologized for his content with Ragil.

Trivia

• According to Deddy Corbuzier, the name “Corbuzier” comes from his stage name when he was studying at high school.
• Deddy formerly used eyebrow makeup during his appearance on 2000s.
  • He stated that make-up done by himself because he inspired of an imitation of various scary characters from abroad at that time.
• As of April 2024, His channel is currently the ninth most subscribed channel in Indonesia.
