Muhammad Didit, better known online as Didit Deelon, formerly sobat miskin official (Broke People Club Official),[2] is an Indonesian YouTuber,[3] best known for a video where he did nothing for two hours.

Personal life[]

Muhammad is from Madura, Indonesia.[3]

2 Hours Doing Nothing[]

On July 10, 2020, Muhammad uploaded 2 JAM nggak ngapa-ngapain (2 HOURS doing nothing), in which he does nothing for two hours and twenty minutes.[4] When it was uploaded, he had around 35,000 subscribers, and most of his videos were about life in rural Indonesia.[5]

Production[]

One of Muhammad’s concerns when filming was that his parents would phone,[3] and he would get into trouble for not answering. He originally planned to make the video about ten minutes long, but sat in his room longer than expected.[6]

Muhammad has stated that the video was intended as sarcasm, as “some elements of Indonesian society” had asked him to create educational content for young children.[3]

Reception[]

The video received 1.7 million views within three weeks of its upload.[7] Muhammad’s subsequent videos, often about food, were less popular.[5]

Some viewers attempted to count the number of times Muhammad blinked in the video. One commenter counted 362 times.[8] Other commenters wondered what he was thinking while filming.[7]

A mobile game was based on the video. It consists of a timer, and a character who does nothing.[9]

Other videos[]

The video inspired other people to film themselves doing nothing.[3] A VICE reporter categorised the video as part of a trend, which started outside Indonesia.[2]
