Disney Channel is an American YouTube channel and pay TV channel that is owned by the Walt Disney Television unit of The Walt Disney Company through Disney Channels Worldwide (now Disney Branded Television).
YouTube history[]
On February 20, 2006, Disney Channel created their YouTube channel and never upload anything until May 30, 2009 with Disney's Friends for Changes[1] where Disney Channel stars talks about how we will make the environment safe. After their first upload, they would upload more clips from the original series and videos to their channel such as "Disney Channel On Set"[2] where the cast from the original series do Q&A, "DCOM Extra"[3] where they show a scene or behind the scenes from their Disney Channel Original Movie.
Their YouTube channel had a good start, amassed over 1,500 subscribers[4] and over 100,000 total video views[4] in just a month after their first upload[1]. And the channel would continue growing ever since as they continue to upload more videos.
In around January 2010, their content shifted to a new Disney Channel Original Movie "StarStruck"[5][5] and made it to the algorithm, leading to their rise of Disney Channel on YouTube; and it was later reached over 10,000 subscribers and over 3,000,000 total video views.[6]
A month later, their content also shifted for the new season of the original series "Sonny With A Chance" but retitled "So Random!", which they hits 20,000 subscribers and 7,000,000 views[7] on March 4th and 6th during that period; they later shifted again to their new and upcoming original animated series "Fish Hooks". Over the year of 2010, they gained over 48,000 subscribers and 32,000,000 total views; and overtime, they gained on ~200,000-300,000 views/day if new episodes, series or movies promo was uploaded to their YouTube channel.
In 2011, ever since Disney Channel rebranded the logo, they never make their changes to their YouTube channel and their profile pictures until following year where YouTube layout changes when viewing the channel. However, in Late-March of the same year, they would still continue uploading videos as well with new trailer of a new Disney Channel Original Movies "Breakthrough".[8][8]
4 months later (on August 3, 2011), their channel hits 50,000,000 views and in the following month, they also hits 75,000 subscribers[9] before a new original series "JESSIE"[9] premiered and "Austin & Ally" in November[10]. Overall, 2011 was considered to be their another best year as they reached 100,000 subscribers (on December 3, 2011) and almost 90,000,000 total views.
